Look for fuses that look like little capacitors near the flyback transformer if that is not the problem then resistors and the convergence IC's will need to be checked and or replaced
these parts can be purchased at any electronic parts supply store

Ur tv Convergence is dead.Must know how to solders? There are there 3 squares small boxes look like caps, actually it high voltage thermal fuses. The munbers on the board part is FL301 the one in the middle is dead, best just replaced all three of these caps, the parts are near a FBT,a flyback tranformer,a big block of plastic with a brown or red wire going to a board.Replaced these thermal fuses, and also resolders the FBT.Go to Ebay.com to buy these FL301 thermal fuses.

Pioneer SD-582HD5 - screen went black, no sound, however the power switch - red light on the front panel is still on

There are actually two fuses on the smps F201 (6.3a) & F202 (5a) if either or both of these are open the problem is not likely the fuse. What I try and tell customers is that a fuse being open is merely a symptom, never the cause.
This particular unit is plagued with poor solder connections which case the voltages to flutter violently and the symptoms you're experiencing... You would be wise to remove the power supply and replace it or have it rebuilt. There are a number of companies that specialize in rebuilding boards of this nature or any qualified shop could do it if they had the whole Tv, since they probably don't have a jig special for that unit.
In summary, check the two fuses above and just be prepared that replacing them won'y solve the problem and most likely just open the new fuses in a short time.

If you haven't already found a solution to this problem, it is more than likely a failed fuse. If you are comfortable with the high-voltage electronics in your TV and are handy with a soldering iron, you can attempt to locate and repair the fuse(s) yourself. However, the fuse is more than likely failing because of an additional problem. It all depends on which fuse failed. Can you get back to me?

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.
