Power Problems :S

Hi, I recently kicked the power cord out of the back of My AcerPower ST Tower (model is not listed on this site, but I think this could be a multipurpose problem). When I plugged it back in, I press the power button and the power light goes on for half a second, then turns off. The system does not start up and there are no more signs of activity from the tower. I am worried because I forgot to turn the power source off the wall before I plugged the power cable back in, I just plugged it back in straight away. I have tried with different cables and power outlets. Does this sound like there is now a problem with the tower's circuitry? Is there anything else I can try? Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms suggest failed Power Supply. May be failing as more of the computer kicks in and the load goes up. May read fine on multimeter if tested with no load, but still be fried.

If you jerked the machine hard, it would pay to check nothing has shaken loose on the motherboard too.

My monitor no display and light is blinking

Hi,
if the monitor light is blinking this suggests that, there is no display signal coming from the tower. This could be because of the following .

1. Bad video card 2. Bad video software

To check, where the problem is , power of the system tower and remove the power cord from the back of the tower. Press and hold the power buttoon for 10 seconds and the reconnect the power cord and turn the tower on. Check if there is any display or the status of the light changes from amber to green for even a small instance.

If the light changes to green and back to amber the video port on the tower is bad

Alternatively you can connect the monitor to another desktop or laptop to check if the same is working correctly.

I reset my surge protector and the computer wont power up. i think i need a new power supply. the power cord is working fine. Please let me know where i can find a power supply for the aspire...

The Acer Aspire L100 is a desktop computer powered by a special DC adapter and power cable. The computer's motherboard incorporates a fuse designed to prevent any power surges from damaging the computer. If the fuse burns out due to a power surge or for any other reason, the computer will no longer function. You can check the motherboard fuse for damage yourself, then take it to a trained technician for replacement if needed

Shut down the Acer Aspire L100 and turn the tower around.

Press the "On/Off" button on the front of the tower. If the computer will not boot and the fan does not turn on, the fuse may be burned out.

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the tower

Turn the tower on its side and remove the Phillips-head screws connecting the back panel to the Aspire L100's cabinet.

Pull out the motherboard assembly gently from the back of the cabinet. The internal fuse is located on the motherboard behind the DC power jack, which is to the right of the monitor jack

Let me know if this helped..

IWe have replaced the Acer F1 pc power supply with a new one, still no start up power. Power supply does not start, no fan spinning?

    Hi,

Try using a differrent power cable, you could use the cable which goes to the monitor. If that works, then you need to just get a replacement power cable (could be US 3 PIN Spec).

If that doesn't work, then the power supply of the computer tower needs to be replaced.

    Hi,
If you are referring to the green light on the system tower and is blinking the problem could be the system is in stand by mode.

Turn off the computer by pressing on the power button on the system tower for 10 seconds.

Disconnect the black power cord at the back of the system tower and then again press the power button on the tower for 10 seconds. There would be no activity on the tower when you do this.

Reconnect the power cord and then power on the computer to see if the issue is resolved.

    PC won't power up

Hi! Try to check if there is any power light or any lights on the machine whenever you try to turn it on, also, try to directly connect the power cable directly to the wall outlet. If you have a spare power cable try to use it.If you are getting the same result, try to unplug the power cable at the back of the computer, press and hold the power button for 10 secs and after that plug the power cable back in and then try to press the power button.Check for indicators if the system is getting power for example, check lights, check if the fan is spinning at the back, check if the dvd/cd drive will open or check if the tower is emitting any sound. If still the same and still no light coming from the tower then it might be a issue with either the power supply or the motherboard, you can call your manufacturer and have the machine serviced if its still under warranty.Hope this helps...

Acerpower SV PC will Not turn off

More information would help to resolve this issue.

Are you shutting down by selecting Start and shutdown or have you tried pushing the power button on push (not holding the power button)?

    Try this:
Press and hold the power button in solidly for about 10 seconds. If it shuts down before you get to 10 just let off the power button. This should work, but may not solve the problem.

If you reboot it and still can not shut down from Windows, hold power button until it shuts down, unplug the power cord and disconnect everything from the computer other than the keyboard, mouse and monitor. With the power plug still unplugged, hold the power button in for about 15 seconds (this resets the power supply and can clear a corrupt BIOS).

Reconnect power and after booting, see if you can shut down from Windows.

If still no go, click Start, Programs, Accessories, System tools and select System Restore.

Follow the prompts and select a bold date back to a time before you had problems shutting down. That should do the trick.

Let me know if you get it fixed or if you need more advice.

    Tower gets no power

90% of the time this symptom indicates a bad power supply.
If a generic system and in some name brand systems, the part is quite cheap (about $40) + labor.

In rare cases, the power switch could be bad.
