Question about Lexmark T640 Laser Printer

Lexmark t640: paper jam in the back door. I can see the edge of the paper. How do I release the tension on the rollers so I can slide it out? Now it is in there tight and to grab it just tears off a piece of paper. thanks!

Explanation of the paper jam message

A 241.09 Paper Jam message indicates that the printer thinks a sheet of paper has jammed at the front of the printer. The jammed sheet of paper is most likely to be found in one of the paper trays or under the toner cartridge.
NOTE: If you select Show areas on the operator panel, you can view one or more images to help you locate and clear the jam.

Clearing the jam
To resolve the paper jam message, you must first clear the entire paper path. To access the jam area, you will need to open one or more of the paper trays. Follow the steps in the table below to help you locate and clear the jam.
Step Action Image 1 Open the printer paper tray (tray 1), and remove any jammed media you find there. lexmark t640: paper jam in - pattlnk_10222007_1922-enus28872_24109paperjam1_t64x_en_us.gif 2 Open the front cover and remove the toner cartridge. Examine the area inside the printer and remove any jammed media you find there. 3 If you have a duplex option installed, also remove the duplex access tray and remove any jammed media you find there. 4 If you were printing from an optional paper tray, such as tray 2 or tray 3, open any optional trays, starting at the top, and remove any jammed media. Pull the print media either up or down. If it does not pull easily one way, try the other way pattlnk_10222007_1957-enus28872_24109paperjam3_t64x_en_us.gif 5 If you are printing from an optional 2000-sheet feeder, open the front door. Press the elevator button (A) to lower the tray. Remove any partially fed media from the feeder.
NOTE: Make sure the stack of print media is straight and pushed all of the way into the feeder. Incorrectly loaded paper is the most common cause of paper jams from a 2000-sheet feeder option.

NOTE: You may receive a different paper jam message informing you that another sheet of paper is jammed elsewhere in the printer. If this occurs, the error code will indicate the location. Click here for a diagram showing the error code locations. The paper path will vary, depending on the paper source and number of paper feed options installed.
Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find and try printing again.

Hi, my lexmark T640 is saying 202.06 paper jam, check rear door. i have opened it and there is no jam, there is no paper anywhere and have pulled all the trays out and there is no jam. what do you suggest?

This jam is refering to back door, jam in fuser (hot bit) Double check no paper is wraped around fuser rollers.

These machines have a fuser at rear if you look at he fuser from the back, on it you will see, two thick fuser rollers (ones rubber), paper runs threw these then it hits a little black switch (your machine thinks this switch is activated) and then a series(3,4) of small rubber exit rollers, this switch (between middle and left) can get damaged it also likely that a piece of paper is concertinaed in fuser.

When clearing a jam in the top back, I removed a component that was on top of the rollers, has spines going down, and seems as if it might guide the paper into the tray. now I can't get it back in...

Correct that guides the paper into the top tray after it is done printing.

1. Remove the Back Door. It should fold down and half way down is the spot where it just pops right off.
2. Remove the 2 screws from the back piece
3. 2 clips at the top are holding on that back piece. Press those in and the back piece will slide out.
4. The guide snaps into 2 spots on the top, but there is a spring on the side that is used for tension to make sure the paper is correctly fed through.
5. If the spring came off then you will need to get some needle nose pliers and hook it back on.
6. After the spring is back on test the guide by pressing on it and making sure the spring snaps it back in it's proper place.
7. Now just install everything by following the directions in reverse...minus the spring part...don't remove that! ;-)

241.10 paper jam

Um I don't know what the other guy is saying since your paper jam has nothing to do with where he is telling to look...

From the service manual:

Error 241 subcode 10:
Page was not properly picked from tray 1.

Possible Causes:
Failure to feed possible causes include:
• Edge locking
• Worn or contaminated pick tires
• Overfilling of tray past the fill line.

Action:

Fan media.
Turn media over.
Reduce amount of media loaded in tray 1.
Replace pick tires.*

To replace pick tires:

Integrated tray autocompensator pick roll assembly removal

1. Remove the integrated tray, and look underneath the printer for the autocompensator arm. Pull the arm
down.

2. Press on the end of the tab (A) and pull the pick roll off the arm. Repeat this step for the pick roll on the other side. Next, gently release the autocompensator arm. Discard the used pick rolls.

Installation
1. Remove the new pick rolls from their packaging.
2. Pull the autocompensator arm down. Locate the recessed area on the pick roll, and align it with the tab on the arm. There are two arrows on each pick roll. Make sure the bottom arrow faces you as you align the recessed area with the tab.

3. Push the pick roll onto the arm with the tab aligned. Repeat this step on the other side to install the other pick roll.

4. Gently release the autocompensator arm. Insert, integrated tray.

Paper jam check drawer two t640 printer

Hello there,

If you are getting "Paper Jam check drawer two message" I would suggest you to check for any paper stuck inside the paper drawer two. If you don't see any paper jammed inside drawer two, you might also want to check out if its is stuck anywhere in the paper path. Removing the paper jam should fix the issue. Try cleaning the pick rollers (the rollers which pick the paper) in drawer two. This should help fixing this issue.

Merry Christmas!
