Question about Smeg SE399X/5 Stainless Steel Electric Single Oven
Hi, the plastic part of the digital clock has 'dislodged' and is not covering the button holes properly. the buttons seem to be worn away and will not press in either. How do i get the front part of the oven off to re-seat the clock. Or how can i get the buttons to work. The oven is stuck on 'A' for automatic and will not turn on at all now since i had a power cut.....help!!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one either - in the end I bought new buttond from smeg service/parts centre on their website. I took apart the front of the oven and re-seated the clock. I pushed in the new buttons and now its all ok. My problem was that because the clock had mis-lodged the buttons were touching the metal at the front of the oven, and like you when the grill is on the metal gets too hot and melts all the buttons. So the clock has to be in exactly the right place or it will melt the buttons so much that they will not press in...what a bummer!!! :-)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. My husband had the grill on too high and melted the buttons, I thought they weren't going in because of that but we've got new buttons and they're working at one side of the clock and not the other. For the meantime, you can get a thin screwdriver, or something, and poke it through the holes where the buttons would go to substitue. That will get it working in the short term.
