Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-DV203 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

No record or playback

Have Panasonic Mini DV model# PV-DV203D. It has suddenly refused to record or playback. Nothing appears broken. Other secondary functions are OK PV-DV203D camera will come on & start recording or playback, but will stop after 5 seconds. Power light goes from solid red to flashing red, then it will power off by itself. This happened after successfully recording multiple events, but the last one shut down and would not restart properly. Tried with two batteries, both fully charged. Is there a reset button??

Make sure your tape tab is open. See if this works. Sometimes the tab should be closed to prevent eraser or recording over existing film but sometimes the tape tab has to be open to allow for playback or dubbing?

Solid blue lines through Picture on playback mini DV PV-gs19

One possible cause is that normal recording
could not be performed because the heads were
dirty at the time of recording. Clean the heads,
and perform recording and playback again. If
normal playback can be performed, the heads are
clean. Before an important recording, be sure to
conduct a test recording to make sure that normal
recording can be performed.

≥If the heads become dirty soon after cleaning,
the problem may be the tape. If so, try another
cassette.

≥During playback, the picture or sound may be
interrupted momentarily, but this is not a
malfunction of the Camcorder. (One possible
cause is that the playback is interrupted by dirt
or dust that momentarily adheres to the heads.)

Choppy recording and playback

If the heads become dirty, “NEED HEAD
CLEANING” appears during recording. During
playback, moreover, the following symptoms
appear.
≥Mosaic-like noise appears partially or the
sound is interrupted.
≥Black or blue mosaic-like horizontal stripes
appear.
