The Tag Heur repair center says an automatic watch must go through an "initiation" process. They recommend winding manually 40 revolution of the crown clockwise. You must wear an automatic watch at least eight hours per day. Repat the initiation if the watch is not worn for 20 hours or so.

How do I wind my Invicta 1805?

My very brief research shows that the Invicta 1805 watch is driven by a Japanese quartz movement. That would certainly explain why you're having trouble winding it.

The easiest check for quartz vs. mechanical is to observe the second hand. If it pulses only one time per second--i.e., jumps one second at a time--then you're looking at a quartz movement (I'm ignore the rare and expensive mechanical jump movements). If it looks like the hand takes 4 or more little jumps to get from one second to another, you have a mechanical movement.

I don't think that how you wind a watch will effect its performance, so long as some power is in the spring.

If you have had the watch for some time, then it might benefit from having it cleaned.

It looks like your watch has mechanical issue. Without inspecting the watch it's hard to say what exactly the problem is and I suggest you return it for replacement under warranty.

This is certainly not normal. I had an automatic watch and because I wore it daily, I was unaware that is need any special treatment.

Automatic watches usually run for 2-3 days before stopping (if fully wound) and thrive on being used. My automatic watch was unsatisfactory when I bought it (new but very cheap) and I had it cleaned and it gave years of excellent service after that- perhaps that is your problem. I suggest that you contact their service center for advice.

If your watch is new then you should register it on their web site (go to http://www.invictawatch.com/invicta/services) and send it to them for repair.

If it is out of warranty, then you will see a price list on the above page (this is very unusual!) which will give you an indication of what you may have to pay to get it fixed.

I just bout my invicta skeleton ghost. Its an automatic watch and for some reason it won't work for longer than five minutes. Is there something that I did, or am doing, that u could point out to me?

If the watch has been allowed to run down, then it may need some considerable activity to wind it up again.

Hold the watch level and shake it gently from side to side for a few minutes (this should operate the self winding mechanism and wind the watch up). After this, wearing the watch should keep it wound up.

Tag Heuer Tiger Wood Golf WAE1111.FT6004 Watch stops when not worn. Is there a problem

Hi,

An automatic watch needs to be worn, wound daily or placed on a watch winder to keep it going. It is not like a quartz watch that has a battery and can keep going when not worn. A modern automatic watch will run for about 36 - 48 hours on a full wind.

A quartz watch that stops like you describe is in need of a cleaning by a professional watchmaker. When this stopping occurs it is an indication the oils have dried out and the warmth from your body heats them so they are semi liquid again and the watch runs. but when the watch cools again the oils harden and the watch stops.

Hope this helps,

New automatic watch keeps stopping

You can wind this watch until it is snug. If it does not continue to run during normal wear then you should have the watch looked at. The swing weight or main spring maybe malfunctioning. If you can return it under warranty that would be best.

Automatic Watch Stops

There can be hundereds of causes why your watch isn't working properly, so, I'll not name them.
One is clear- without help of skilled watchmaker your watch will NEVER work properly.
NOTE: It may sound very strange, but mechanical watches do NOT like to be left without job.
Next time you decide to leave mechanical watch aside for long time- do not forget to wind it up once in a 2-3 days even if you are not wearing it.
This will help to prolong watch movements life and keep timekeeping steady and accurate.

Regards

Arthur
