Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

How to Transfer video from Sony Handycam CCD-TR416 to DVD - You need a DVD Recorder / Player, connected to your TV. Then using the audio / video cables from your camcorder, connect them to the TV as well. Turn your TV on so that you can watch the video out from your camcorder and then select the record button on your DVD Recorder / Player. Then you have a DVD that can be watched in any DVD Player or Computer with out any compression. This is how I transfer my camcorder tapes to DVD.

I am trying to play back video from Sony Handycam on tv, the sound is perfect but i have no picture, im sure it must be something simple. i have handycam a/v out attached to the yellow red and white...

First remember that the "Yellow" is for video signals the Red and White are for audio.
first connect the camera leads directly to the TV. First yellow connector of camera attach with the "Video in" of Tv and same as Red and White of camera as Audio IN of Tv. And you will both get sound and audio.
Now same as connect the camera connectors Yellow in Video In of the DVD and Red & White For Audio In in the DVD, Now a new lead connect to DVD out Video "yellow pin" to the TV Video IN ans same as Red & Whit in TV IN. By this procedure you will get the Video and Audio from your camera.
     Hope this will help you.

Need to transfer order VCR-C tapes to DVD How

You will need to borrow or buy a DVD-Recorder, either way it's best to follow the manuals instructions on how to connect your camcorder (external device) to the DVD Recorder for Recording to DVD. Most camcorders come with a set of AV (audio/video) Cables for this purpose. On your camcorder you will find a little rubber door that houses the terminals to connect your cables to. Depending on how old your camcorder is you will find a Yellow (video) and a White (audio) and on the newer ones that have stereo will have a Red (audio), all these connections are video and audio Out-Inputs and should be connected to the Video and Audio "In" terminals on the back of the DVD Recorder. Now make sure your battery is fully charged (It's best here to use an AC Adapter for your power supply instead of your battery, which also usually comes with your camcorder if bought new.) and that your VCR-C tape is loaded and completely re-wound. Now if you want to watch this on your TV while you are recording to'll need another set of AV Cables that come with a new DVD-Recorder, and hook these cables on the Out-terminals on the back of the DVD- Recorder and the other end of the cables to your TV's Video/Audio-IN terminals on the back of the set. Finally...Set your camcorder switch for Playback, turn on the DVD Recorder, And turn on your TV. Now you can go ahead and record all your VCR-C tapes to DVD! Any other questions? How can i download better quality video from mini dv to pc

Hi there,

You do need a good capture card if you want the best quality. However these tend to be a bit expensive and I have found that if you have a DVD recorder with an i-link input, then copying to the recorder will give you excellent results. After you have made the recording, you can then edit it very easily with say DVD shrink on your PC.

It may even be cheaper to buy a DVD recorder with i-link features than having to buy a capture card!
