Just got the msi u100 and had same problem. Your response worked! Thank you!!!
Is there any way to use the CDs that came with the MSI U100?
I didn't realize that there is no cd player.
Can I put them on my desktop, then put them on a flash drive and then download them to the MSI?
Thanks again. This was very helpful! Sincerely, Lisa

I pressed the Fn key and the F12 key simulataneously and there are two satellite icons that appeared. One of them hd a red "x", then it disappeared. I still can't connect to the wireless internet.

I appreciated your excellent solution to the MSI U100 Notebook query. Pressing both the FN and F11 keys at the same time gave me access to the Internet.

    Many thanks.

Hi akiefer_811,

All you need to do is enable the wireless receiver on the u100. To do this, hold down the Function key ("Fn" - in the lower left corner of your keyboard) and press F11 (there should be a satellite-shaped icon on the F11 key). Once you've done this, it should detect any accessible wireless network within range.

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

When you see "limited or no connectivity," it's usually caused by one of three things:

    1) The computer is too far from the router or there is interference with the signal (this can happen if your computer is near a thick wall, or sometimes even another computer with WIFI). If the computer is in a different room from the router, you might try moving it closer.

    2) The network that the computer has found might not be yours but rather someone else's that is farther away. This happens often when your router is password-protected (in 802.11g mode, as opposed to 802.11b). If this is the case, you may need to tell the computer the name and access key for your network (manually setting up the network connection). To verify that your computer is deticting the network, try this (I assume you're running Windows XP): right-click on the wireless icon in the system tray (lower right corner of your screen), and select "View Available Wireless Networks." Your network should be there. If it's there but it's not connected, then select it and click "connect." If it's not there, click "refresh network list" (upper left). If it doesn't show up, then your network is not being detected at all.

If neither of these is the problem (that is, if the computer is right
near the router, and the router is not password-protected, and you're
still having trouble), let me know. The next step depends on whether
    (a) the network is not being detected at all or (b) the network is
being detected but the signal is too weak to establish a connection. Once we know this (from the verification process in #2 above), we can try removing other variables - we can try resetting the router or adjusting its settings (let me know the what model router you have, and I'll do my best to walk you through some troubleshooting steps).

    Regards,
    H2H

Can't find the wireless antenna on my msi u100 series laptop

Not really sure what you are expecting. The wireless antenna is within the computer--you won't see it.
What you will need to do is to turn the wireless networking on. This is done in some computers with a small switch on the case (in this case, there is usually a light that comes on when you turn the switch on). In other cases, you will have to use the Fn key plus one of the special function keys at the top of the unit (has a picture representing a wireless connection on it--possibly something like an antenna).
If this fails, go into your network connections and see if the wireless connection is actually turned on. If you have Vista, this is sorta easy as you click on "connect to" and then choose "wireless network"
