Question about HP Photosmart C5180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My HP has a Ink system failure error 0xc19a0003 message

I have tried turning the unit on and off, unpluging it and nothing works. Is it "dead dead" or "mostly dead...?"

It was worth a try, but when I reconnected the power, cartriges and USB, the machine turned on and after booting up returned right back to the )xc19a0003 error message. Looks like I am in the market for a new printer that uses the hp 02 cartriges, as I have a stockpile of over $100 in cartidges....

    Thanks for your help.

Turn off the printer, remove the power plug from the computer AND the wall socket. Open the front and remove each print cartridge. Take a lint free cloth and lightly dampen it with bottled water. Do not use tap water. If this is an all-in-one 3300 model, you cannot remove the print head without a whole lot of work, but, you can still clean the nozzles and contacts. Wrap the dampend cloth around your index finger and reach inside where each cartridge goes. Lightly rub the electrical contacts with the cloth. Do not use a lot of pressure or you can damage the contacts. Light pressure across each set a few times will do it. To clean the nozzles, with the cloth still wrapped around your finger, turn your palm up, reach inside each cartridge cavity and using light upward pressure, gently wipe the area around the nozzle. If you take your bare finger, you can feel the nozzle. Just rub each one a few times. You will see some ink residue on the cloth. That is good; it means you have cleaned some of the old ink gunk off. After you are done, take each ink cartridge and using the damp cloth, wipe off the electrical contacts a few times. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NOT USED A SOAKING WET CLOTH TO DO ANY OF THIS; JUST A DAMP CLOTH. When done, reinsert the cartridges, plug in the power cord at the printer then plug in the plug at the wall socket. Turn on the printer and let it go through it's setup completely. The error should be gone. If there are no more error codes, go to TOOLS and run the CLEAN PRINT HEAD function. When that is done, go to TOOLS and run the ALIGN PRINT HEAD. Each function will print a page. You should be all set to go. Go luck.

Try this......

Solution one: Reset the product
Use the instructions below to resolve the issue by restarting the product.

  1. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
  2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
  3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
  5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
  6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
  7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
  8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print a print job from the computer.
Solution two: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Thank you. This does not work in my case as the printer either shows the start up screen (during start up) or the Ink System Failure screen. I went through the HP online service chat and they are sending me a new printhead. One suggestion they made that didn't work for me either is to press the following touch screen buttons in order to get to the Support Menu and perform a Semi-full reset. Return Arrow (bottom left), Home (top left), Return Arrow (bottom left) TWICE. Support Menu > Resets Menu > Semi-Full Reset. Maybe this will help someone else.

How do I fix "ink system failure oxc18a0206" message on my HP Photosmart C7280 all-in-one?

Hopefully, this link will take you to the proper troubleshooting page.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03081973&lc=en&product=3204785&tmp_track_link=ot_search#N213

You'll click on the third plus sign on the page (+) because your message DOES include the words "ink system failure."

From there, you'll choose, by looking at the pictures, whether your printer has a removable print head.

You'll click on the appropriate answer -- yes it does, or no it doesn't,

Then, you'll identify which print cartridges your system uses, and THAT will take you to the proper troubleshooting steps for your printer's specific configuration.

The fix may be something you've already tried -- turning off the printer and unplugging it (but did you unplug it from BOTH the unit AND the wall, and then did you wait at least 15 seconds?), or the fix may be to service the printer.

Good luck! :)
