RCA G35830WK, Chassis: CTC169JS6. Tv needs to be on for 5 minutes before Audio comes on and then sometimes it will get stuck at whatever volume level untill I turn it off and back on and wait another 5 or 10 minutes and the audio will come back.

  • ellmily Dec 12, 2008

It does not matter if I use the remote or the buttons on the set the behavior is the same. There is a sound level meter that will come on the screen and move up and down as I adjust the volume but the sound is not coming on as it should.

  • ellmily Dec 12, 2008

Also when I turn off the TV sometimes I will hear a loud popping staticky noise. I did check for any loose connections months ago and did not find any.

Hi
Sounds to me like you may have a cold solder joint in a board ( loose lead on the pc board ) or you might have a b ad eeprom causing the problem. You may need to replace the main board. Also another sitution I have come across is a stuck button on the tuning strip board ( the board/switches that change channels, volume etc ) on the tv. maybe also since the remote sensor is light senative, it may be in the line of the sun ( cover the ir senor on the front of the tv to illaminate that problem ). Good Luck and if you want me to ask anything .contact me

Well, you need to check the capacitator in the sound part or the audio out panel. I think it requires an authorised doctor to look at it.

Also, it is a software problem of the volume getting stuck. If there was a problem with the parts, it would have been that the sound gets stuck at the level and the TV should have shown an increase.

Have the capacitators checked. It may have got swollen. If it has, you need to replace them immediately. Also, it may be dangerous if you don't do it.

If you still have the warranty, contact the manufacturer about the faulty parts that you find. It will be replaced free of cost if you haven't done anything on it that caused it.

Jus unplug it, took the back off, use compressed air to clean the dust and dirt out of it.  check the soldiering joints and give it a quick look. Wthen plugged it back in and the sound may work.  when it was unplugged, it reset itself and is good to go.
when  u have problems, this will be the first thing that u do; to unplug and try to reset it.

I had similar problems. Actually two incidents...

One time it was the board in the back of the TV that had become useless. The other time it was one of the smaller capacitors that got fried...

I simply replaced those dead parts and everything was back to normal...Luckily I had same TV whose monitor did not work, so I swapped the parts from that one...

Anyway, since that was in a hotel industry, it can be a little different at home.

You might as well get a new TV. If you plan to give it to the repair shop, where they usually overcharge... The new ones support more peripheral devices and are better quality overall, especially LCDs.

The sound problem is likely not related. Possibly some leaky caps in the
audio circuit. It s better u consult any service center...

Are you using a remote or changing it manually.

  • Anonymous Dec 12, 2008

as you get sound it is mainly due to any loose contact in sound section or any capacitor is faulty. Needs a tech to check it personally.

I just received for my birthday, a RCA 900 MHz headphones. Followed the instructions but cannot get it to work. I tried to install it on a Hitasha TV. Can you help me?

Hi,
First you need to make a test to adjust your headphones wireless system..
.pls follow the step below:
  • "Connect the RCAheadphone base" TO " headphones output of TV" with 3.5mm stereo headphone jack cable (than Tv should mute ) RCA pilot lamp should flicker in parallel to voice coming from TV
  • RCA headphone should have 2 different rotary adjustment on it..one "Volume" and the second "Frequency" adjustment
  • while TV talking , adjust slowly the "frequency rotary dial" to catch the headphone transmitter coming from RCA headphone base, when you catch it you will hear the voice of TV,(sometimes fine adjustment makes it better ) than adjust volume properly..
  • .After this pls do not touch Frequency dial any more..Just Turn it on ,and Volume adjustment ..Thats it..
  • After completion of this test ,I recommend you to switch / use "RCA Audio output plugs-white/Red cable " on the back of TV instead of TV's headphone output ,since it mutes the whole sound..RCA output plugs work independently from the TV's master volume control..
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care and please

When listening to bose 321 system what should the volume of the tv be set at?

OFF. Unless the TV is the original source of what you're watching (antenna). Otherwise, your programming is probably coming from a cable/sat box with all the digital audio goodies, right?

If your TV has a menu for setting the volume out its RCA connections I would recommend you set it to whatever resembles FIXED, so it's volume control won't kill the stereo analog audio going out to the Bose. Then you can turn it off at the TV and listen through the Bose.

For the best multichannel audio you should get it digitally from the original source you're watching on the TV, but NOT from the TV itself.

Sound from tv very low

When asking questions that involve multiple units we really need to have make/model numbers and connection details of ALL the players in the scenario as each one has a role in the audio's pathing and control.

If the TV's audio section and speakers were superior to audio-specific componentry we own, why would we need Hi-Fi? Sometimes the audio from the TV is useful so we run RCA audio cables to the receiver from theTV. In some TV's the TV audio output is Variable according to the TV volume control or Fixed so the external electronics can have a contant signal.

In general, TV-related audio is best obtained directly from the source, not the TV. So your cable/satellite box should have its best audio connection going straight to the RCA unit.

Intermittent audio...picture fine

Does this model have a headphone jack? If so, plug a pair of headphones or external speaker into the jack, turn the volume to an acceptable listening level and see if the problem goes away. If so, the headphone jack may be bad.

No audio

yeah sometimes we all get fustrated with stuff like that, the trick is not to hit the thing with a hammer,,

any way ensure that yougot the cables connected propperly in the L/R audio output from the dvd player (RED AND WHITE its alo labeled) and connect it to the in in the tv..

check your player settings (audio settings and and check your tv audio settings to ensure they match) some HDTV's only use 5.1 or higher

if your dvd remote got a volume controll on it ensure the u\volume is all the way up and that it isnt muted.

try your player on a next tv to ensure its working , if it is the problem is with your settings as stated above

HI, MY MAME IS vICTOR FROM COSTA RICA. YOU NEED A TV TECHNICIAN BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRONICS CIRCUITOS INCE. I HAVE THE SAME TV, AND I FIXED 2 MONTH AGO, THE PROBLEM MAY BE IS THE FLYBACK, THE PUSH BUTTON PANEL. DO NOT USE AEROSOL, BECAUSE CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS INCIDE

Sound Fades, then TV shuts off then continues to recycle on & off

Sometims several capacitors start going bad giving you the audio problem, but I don't remember the set turning itself off. That could be a secondary problem around the flyback transformer which may have a bad solder connection. I would check that first. Otherwise, I would be tempted to go with HDTV.
