Question about Ryobi 15" Electric Factory Reconditioned Trimmer (ZRRY41002) - Factory Reconditioned

Maintenace of Line trimmers

I am a single woman in my 50s and I like to take pride in my property. I am now on to my second line trimmer of your brand. The first one was excellent. It was a pretrol one but I found I never had the strength enough to start it so I gave it to my son. Next I bought an electric one, which I still enjoy using but every time it runs out of cord (which is invariably everytime I use it), I have difficulty putting the cord on again and have to rely on my friends husband doing it for me. I was just wondering, do Ryobi manufacture a "lady, user friendly" line trimmer. If not, can I suggest that the manufacturers think of this in their next design techniques. I feel this would be a great money earner for them, especially, also if they painted it "pink" or any other "girly" colour. Please dont think I am just another nurotic woman here, I honestly have trouble replacing the cord and just thought there might be an easier solution to this. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

I have the same problem starting my petrol line trimmer - a daunting task - not sure what the answer is...

I agree this might be a good idea but it still means once they run out I have to get them reloaded (or rewound) by my friends husband. Thanks anyway maybe one day there might be a "user friendly" model made.

Missen, I am 76 and am having troubles too. I have a suggestion that might be a solution for you. Order another spool or two, have them loaded with the line, and just switch spools as needed. Hows that for a good suggestion?

Need to change the weedeater line.

There should be a half sphere-like object on the bottom of the spool where the line goes. Twist counter clock-wise to remove.

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer: Then just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool. This may need to be longer than 7ft.
