I want to turn the wireless function off in my Belkin NWireless Router F5D8233-4 so that I can use it just as a router because I have run cable to all my devices to overcome security issues. I have logged in to the control software using http://192.168.2.1 but cannot see where to turn the wireless function off. Can you please advise how I can do this.

I have the same router, this is good to know.
Read page 43 in this manual (or 46 on the bottom of the reader window). The is a Wireless Mode Switch, but it states that you may need a firmware update to access it;

copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Setup belkin wireless network

Hi,
1.Connect a Cat5 cable into the Ethernet port on the back of your cable or DSL modem. Plug the other end of the cable into the "Connect to Modem Internet/WAN" port on the back of the Belkin Router.
2.Connect a Cat5 cable into the "Ethernet" port on the back of any desktop or stationary computers and then plug the other end of the cable into one of the LAN ports on the back of the Belkin Router. Start with port one and work your way up with subsequent computer connections.
3.Turn the Belkin Router on by plugging the router into a power outlet. Allow 30 seconds for the router to fully boot up. All computers tethered to the modem via a Cat5 cable have access to the Internet.
4.Open the Wi-Fi Wizard on your laptop and turn on the Wi-Fi antenna. Once turned on, the Wizard finds all network connections in your area. Connect to your network to establish an Internet connection. Complete this step for each computer not tethered to the Belkin Router with a Cat5 cable.

Belkin wireless adapter

Sometimes wireless phones will interfere with the signals. If the router or PC is anywhere near a phone, it might have a problem. I have one wireless network card that gives me fits like that. I have yet to get a PC working with it. I have other wireless cards that work fine. I also switched to 5GHz phones, which helped my old laptop. Check to make sure there's not a conflict with the encryption used by either the dell or the router.

Check the router settings, if the router is set to only use 802.11N wireless it won't pick up a computer that is using 802.11G or 802.11B wireless.

Good luck

My laptop has vista installed via usb from virgin cable modem.what must i do to install a belkin wireless g mimo router using ethernet connection?

Huh? You installed Vista through your Virgin Cable Modem? What on earth does that mean?

Are you trying to ask "How do I install my Belkin Wireless G Router?"

If that is the actual question, here is the answer:

1) Unplug your cable modem from your computer.
2) Plug the cable modem into the router using a Ethernet Cable.
3) Plug the router into the computer using another Ethernet Cable.
4) Plug in the power supply for the cable modem and then the router.

(If your cable modem is ONLY USB, and doesn't have a spot to plug in a Ethernet Cable, you'll have to call Virgin and replace the modem with a model that does)

Once everything is up and running, you should be on the internet as soon as the computer starts.

(You may want to log into the router and disable the "Wireless" settings if you aren't using them to stop others from gaining entry to your network)

it will as long as the modem/router is connected to a phone line, instead of the pc, the only cable connected to the pc should be a ethernet cable; or you have the pc networking set that it connects via another pc instead of through a gateway, re run the wireless network wizard.

no guide needed, just connect the modem to the router with the ethernet cable provided by your ISP, flip your router over, find the default ip address and login info, login to the router with this info, run the setup.

I have a Belkin Wireless G Router. It is hooked up to the desktop. My laptop does not recognize to make wireless. I looked under network connections and the router is not listed. What do I do?

Network Connections are just for naming configurations for stuff. Configure your wireless network adapter and have it look for things to make a connections, and it can make you a 'Network Connection' for that Windows folder if you want. Otherwise just connect using the controlpanel for the device and be happy. Your router would not have WiFi turned on by default; that would be stupid and insecure. Read the fine manual and config the router from a wired connection to your laptop or PC so you can set up nice wireless passphrases and stuff.

I need to setup drivers for a Belkin wireless G Plus router

Um could you mean by chance drivers for a wireless pc card? routers don't have drivers for computers, you log in through ie or Firefox or whatever your browser is that you use. this is done via the connection to the router through a network cable, wireless can not setup a router, you must use a network cable to the router and then access it through that network connection to set it up. set up disks for routers are just a waste of space and time. let me know how it turns out though
