I'm not aware of any FREEware that will recover MS Money passwords, only for the recovery of corrupted files. This should come as no surprise though, given the inherent desperation factor for their product.

However, the following should help you get started on your path to recovery.

BREIF PRIMER: http://financialsoft.about.com/od/datasecurity/f/lostpasswds.htm

REVIEW AND COMPARE the following software choices:

- Advanced Money Password Recovery v1.11
$30.00 http://www.tucows.com/preview/284172
Shows only the 1st 3 characters of the password unless you purchase (to get the entire password). However, if those 3 characters are enough to jar your memory to the whole password, it will be enough to save you the $30.00.

- Money Key
$45.00 http://www.supershareware.com/info/money-key.html
Demo version will "recover short passwords". How many character's "short" is, I don't know.

- Advanced Office Password Recovery
$49.00 http://www.elcomsoft.com/aopr.html
Appears to be the most comprehensive, but also the most expensive.

- Password Spyer 2K
$15.95 http://www.maros-tools.com/products/spyer/index.htm
This one is from a link in the above primer discussing recovery of MS Money passwords, but that app is not mention on their webpage. If you inquire and find it is capable, it is the cheapest.

You may also want to consider contacting a local PC tech (or the teenage geek next door) who may be willing to perform the one-time task for an even more nominal fee.

Lastly, but most importantly .... please, please, please let this be the last lesson you'll need for the rest of your life about the vital importance of backing up ALL things essential (data as well as passwords). Specifically concerning passwords, you NEED (repeat NEED) a "password manager". I've tried and evaluated dozens of them, and in my opinion, RoboForm www.roboform.com is the clear standout. Been using it for many years now with absolutely zero regrets. It also has several other very useful capabilites as well concerning your favorites, contacts, search engine index, etc. And if you're a mobile PC user in any way, and you have/use a USB flash/key drive, take a look at the portable "RoboForm2Go" version ... simply indispensable.

Good luck.

I use MS Money 2001. I bought a new PC and is changing from MS Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro. I would like my ms money 2001 to continue working on new PC but I can't find the original disc to copy on...

Hi pjhmulder
Assuming MS Money 2001 and 2003 are compatible with W 7 , you could install MS Money 2003 on the new computer and copy the files from MS Money 2001 on the old computer to MS Money 2003 on the new computer . Make sure you don't erase the MS Money 2001 files before transfer has successfully been executed .

Moving to a new computer

Any files you created and saved using the money application can be transferred to any other computer. The money program however is an installed application. You will need to install money on the new computer. Unless the license allows for installation on more than one computer you will need to buy the program again. It may be ok to uninstall money from the old computer and install on the new. Read the EULA that came with the program to see if it is allowed.

Hope this helps.

Works suite 2005 will not start.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;247602 this is worth looking at.

a faster fix is:
Uninstall Microsoft works, then go under my computer and search for any other microsoft works folder from before the crash including any other program that came with it ( i.e. microsoft money ect..).
Those old files are interferring with the new files, so deleting them forces works to create new files.

Microsoft Money 2000

Go to Microsoft download center, search for updates to Microsoft Money (same as automatic updates but you are forcing process). It is not connecting his backup files to the money program had trouble renaming for lack of easier way to explain. once all downloads updates done restart computer, once. Try to open new or previous file (did you save to disk or excel by any chance?) No matter.... Then search for this driver on your computer...is it now there? 1. Right click rollback driver...if that doesn't work uninstall reinstall driver individually. in folder of prgram called .dll

Here you can download a FREE Excel add-in that removes/cracks sheet and workbook password protection in Excel®.
NB! This program can't remove file protection, i.e. if you are unable to open the file, this program won't help you. You could try Excel Key to remove file protection. If you need to crack the VBA-password try this one.
