DV-383S Region setting problem

Hi, I have a DV-383S model pioneer player and it was working fine from last two years and from last one week it is asking for region settings when i switch it on.I am not able to operate any buttons on remote control except power on/off,open/close,home menu. I came across some post on internet for updating the regional setting using RS-232 Cable or using pioneer service remote control. I don't have both of them available.any other solution?i cannot upgrade the firmware also in this situation. Need ur help experts, thanx in advance.

Re: DV-383S Region setting problem

Try updating the Firmware through Infra-red devices, buy uploading the firmware in IRDA controller then send it through IR to the DVD player. it will reboot alone and start again! Try it! Patrick

Hi. I´ve just buy a used Pioneer dv 383 and it works OK with Cd´s, but when I try to play a DVD on it, it turns off. Can u help me?

There are 2 lasers in it. One for dvd and one for cd. The dvd lens is overheating and causing it to shut down. Better to get a refund and buy a new one. They are very cheap at WalMart.

Region code unlocking pioneer dv-220kv

My DV-220KV-K, which is sold as a Multi Region DVD player has locked up on me. The following message comes onto the TV screen...
(Player's Region Setting) <1> : Region <2> : Region <3> : Region <4> : Region <5> : Region <6> : Region Pick out any one of these!
The message remains on the screen ALL the time and I'm locked out of viewing anything. The remote is locked and so I cannot pick any of the region numbers!

Pioneer DV 310 K region free

Step 1) Download the pioneer firmware here

The site says the firmware only works on region 2 players. For this model it worked for my region 4 player in Australia

Step 2) Burn this file to a CD-ROM with name PIONEER as per these instructions -

Step 3) Load the CD and your DVD player with ask you to flash the firmware. It says press play to start but instead HOLD DOWN ENTER during the entire process. DO NOT switch off your DVD during this time. When the tray opens take the CD ROM out but keep the DVD on. The flashing can take up two to three minutes. During this time HOLD DOWN ENTER ON THE REMOTE. The entire time!

Step 4) The DVD player will reboot. The tray should be empty. It will then load the tray back into the player. If the signal is disorted switch on and off.

Your done! Should work.

The most complex way of region freeing a DVD I have ever endured! :)
