Rename a song file after copying

The manual states that you should rename a file after a copy is made to avoid duplicate names. I have searched everywhere ... and can not find any documentation on HOW to RENAME a file. Please help!

Thank you so much for the solution. The key was "not" to load the song. When I tried to rename the song after being loaded, it would fail.

Hi,

I'm a little unclear about what you are trying to do. I'll assume that you have copied a song from one partition to another and now wish to change the song name so as to avoid confusion. To do so you need to call up the 'menu' (press menu button) and under 'song' go to 'load'. There you'll see a list of song names (including the song you have currently loaded and are working on). Just navigate to the song name and press the 'title' button (shift - menu) which will allow you to edit the song name. You don't have to reload the song for the title change to keep and you'll see the new title reflected in the LCD window after you press 'home' to return to the normal view.

Regards,

bd.

New Bose sound link III won't play all tunes on Bluetooth from iPhone, Why?

It may only support AAC with a lower bitrate. Itunes will allow HD audio files like AIFF and ALAC with bitrates of 44khz/16bit audio to uploaded to the player (iPhone) but not all bluetooth devices will play the digital format of AIFF or ALAC but most AAC files (most common in Itunes Store). You can use the menu in iTunes to make an AAC copy of your files if they're in another form such as AIFF or ALAC. Just right click on the song to see INFO on the song and it will tell you what format it is in.

How do i transfer patterns from one sr-16 to another?

There are two ways. 1st way is to use the tape out and a 1/8 to 1/8 cable connected to a tape recorder or computer. And use the send thru tape function. while recording. then on the second one reverse the cable. And use the tape in function. The 2nd way is to copy beat for beat in the quantize mode by hand onto paper, the reprogram each sound(beat) back into it.

Right password and username still no sign in

This is a longshot, but maybe some yahoo.com pages are being blocked by your computer. Do a search for your Hosts file and open it with notepad. Any listings that are prefixed with 127.0.0.1 are blocked. Look through these listings for anything with yahoo.com in it. If you find any, make a copy of the hosts file with a name you'll remember, then delete the entries containing yahoo.com. Save and close the Hosts file. Try to sign in to your yahoo accaount. If this doesn't work, use the copy you made of the Hosts file to restore the file.
Hope this helps.

I have a 2288 mk11 and I dont get how to set the in and out to edit songs? can you help please

Just use the transport buttons (Play, FF or REW) to navigate to the spot in the song where you'd like to set you IN, OUT or TO point and then with the transport stopped press shift and the corresponding key (either IN, OUT, or TO). You'll see a SET IN (or SET OUT or SET TO) message appear on the screen to show that the point has been set.

These points then apply to all tracks.

When you go to edit you'll be prompted for which track to apply the edit to before you commit the edit. For instance during a COPY edit the 2488 will prompt you for which track to copy from and which track to copy to allowing you to copy a section from between the IN and OUT points to the TO point on the same track, or to copy the section to the TO point on another track.

After setting the IN, OUT or TO point, pressing any of those buttons alone with take you to that point in the song.

You can also edit where the points are set by setting a new one. The last one you set will become the new IN, OUT or TO point.

When mastering (or premastering) the IN point is automatically set to the beginning of the song and you'll have to just set the out point in the same way as described above.

Cheers and hope this helps,

Can't import song from PC to DP-02 Unit and the Manual STINKS!!!!!

You shouldn't have to do any formatting. If you copied a wav file onto the DP-02 while connected with the USB and with the USB connection open, then you were already accessing the fat partition. One thing to be aware of is that the DP-02 only works with mono wav files. So if the wav file from you PC is being saved as a stereo wav (which is the default for most programs) then you'll have to specify mono instead. The DP-02 only works in 16 bit as well so on your PC you should be saving and wav files you wish to import as 16 bit, 44.lkHz mono wav files). That should be about it.

Hope this helps.

Play and Record button not working

I have the same problem with all three of my Tascam 2488 MKII's.
It's a software problem and starts to show up when the harddisk gets full.

Backup your song files ( something you have to do anyway ) and then reformat the entire hard disk.
Then restore the songs you were working on lately.

Before doing this rather huge task, you can copy your latest song to another partition and go on with this copy.
This is only a provisional solution.

Hope this helps !
Best regards
