well firstly my ps3 console - 16x16_smiley-wink.gif Not aware of any DNS servers that are hosted by Sony However,DNS servers are hosted by your ISP, if you are getting a DNS error, Iwould be willing to bet that you are also unable to surf the interneton another PC. Best thing to do in this case is reboot your modem (Cable or DSL), your router, and your PS3, in that order. That way everything has time to sync up, grab a IP address, DNS, etc. shut the power off on your modem for about 30sec and turn it back on let i tboot up and try again

My ps3 wont let me sign in it keeps saying an error ocurred during communication with the server this is a dns error (80710102)

First thing you should try is power cycling your modem / wireless router and then your PS3.

It's always best to try the easy stuff first ;)

IP Adress Can't be Read By PS3

Well, I'm not completely sure how to help exactly. This problem sometimes prompts as "DNS" error followed by an error code. If it displays a DNS error, then your problem is that the PS3 cannot find the modem (and router if you have it connected that way).
DNS errors on the PS3 simply means that it cannot find (see) the modem/router.
One way of correcting this would be to reset your modem (and router if you have it connected that way)by unplugging it (from wall and power port). Keep it unplugged for 1 minute or so. Power down your PS3 at the same time.
Plug in your modem (and router if you have it connected that way) and allow for it to reset.
Now power on your PS3 and go to the network settings and establish a new wired connection. Follow the prompts and test the connection afterwards.
Mind you, this is a general means to solving the problem. Try this first to see if you are successful.
I do hope that this helps you.

Dns error 80710102

Hey peterk18,

First of all, how is your network configured? Are you behind a router? What's it's IP adress, does it act as a DHCP server?

If so try to set up a new network connection and put everything to automatic.. When the routers acts as a DHCP server it will give the PlayStation 3 an IP adress. DNS however is something else. DNS is a system that allows you to browse by a website or hosts name. For example: it allows you to type www.google.com in your browser instead of it's IP.

DNS is essential for Internet. Your router should be your DNS server and your router itself also needs to know a DNS server, this would be the server from your ISP. All these settings are automatically configured via DHCP.

Greetings,

DarkNeogen

Internet connection failed but IP address obtained.

Hi, i had the same problem but it was fixed by simply re directing my ISP's DNS settings away from Sony's. manually change your DNS settings to the ones below and it should work fine !
