The tuner or a set top box etc would have to be connected to one of the sets of audio/video inputs and that input selected.

SOURCE: Maxent as PC monitor

Most likely you haven't set it up as a mirrored display. Try dragging your mouse off the edges of the original dispay (or laptop screen) and see if it shows up on the plasma, if it does, figure out of to mirror. Im not sure how to go about mirroring the display on windows, but on mac its an option in the display drop down menu.

SOURCE: maxent edtv monitor 42 inch- how to use as a pc monitor

You'll need an adapter suited to the two ends of the the devices.

An adapter where one end fits the back of the PC graphics card ouput where you would normally plug the pc monitor, and the other end fits the back of your tv input.

If you're using windows, right click on desktop, Properties, Display settins, and choose your TV's name from the list.

SOURCE: how do you hook the up

Use the instructions that came with the device for full details. Their site is down, so you can't get a manual online at this time.
Usually, all you need is video input (a cable connection) and power.
If you have a straight cable line (no box), coax cable connection is will work if supported.
If you have a box, the better cables support the RGB and audio split, and will give you a better quality picture.
Be sure all are secure connected, and that if you use the RGB/Audio split connection, be sure each matches the color coding on the connector.

SOURCE: Maxent MX-42VM10 42 Remote

Trying to program a universal remote can sometimes be a frustrating process. Successful programming of a universal remote depends on whether the universal remote manufacturer included our company’s information in the remote when it was assembled.

Then a cable company (ie., Comcast) or satellite provider (ie., Dish Network) orders their decoder box and universal remote control from a manufacturer (ie., Scientific Atlanta, Motorola, etc.), the decoder box manufacturer provides a list of all the possible remote controls this universal can duplicate. From that list the cable company or satellite selects which manufacture’s products to include on their new universal remote. Once those manufacturers names have been decided, they are placed on the universal remote and a numeric code is assigned. If they choose not to include our company on the universal remote, the universal remote may not access the Maxent screen.

If you cannot locate Maxent on the list provided to you by the universal remote provider, please try the following:

Through contact with various cable and satellite content providers we have developed a list of the most common numeric codes that are used with universal remotes.

Content Provider/Most commonly used code

Comcast: 1755
Comcast (ML-3251HLT Model): 0054
Insight: 1755

Direct TV: 11755
Dish Network: 742
Cable Vision: 165
Adelphia: 0156, 1755
Universal: 0762
One4All: 0036
Time Warner: 0230

We have identified other manufacturers of display products that have similar remote control information to ours. Depending on the universal remote you are using these manufacturers may work. Please use the documentation that accompanied your universal remote, and look up the following companies. Input the numeric code associate with that company.

Gateway
Sampo
Viewsonic
Magnavox
Phillips
Marantz
Pilot

If the universal remote you are trying to program contains a Code Search (the remote will scan through all the codes contained within the universal remote) function, we recommend that you try that procedure. It is possible that there may be another manufacturer code that may work with our monitor.

You may also want to try a Learning Remote from another manufacturer. This type of remote control can absorb or record the information coming directly out of the Maxent remote control. The learning remote then duplicates that information and acts like the Maxent Remote control. This type of remote can also record the signal coming from your other universal remotes in the same manner. In which case you can use this learning remote for your entire audio video system

Can you hook up an antenna to a maxent 2007 tv to get free basic television stations

Your Maxent instructions should say. My Maxent is a display, basically a monitor only, that has no tuner. Without a tuner an antenna won't help you make use of the signal. Hope this helps!

How do i hook regular cable to Maxent MX-42EPM20 42 in. EDTV Plasma Television

Hello,
Your Maxent MX-42EPM20 is not a TV (Television) it is a Plasma panel. The difference being your Panel does not a TV Tuner (no Coax jack or electronics relating to a tuner) Below is the spec sheet that shows this
http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/maxent-mx-42epm20/4507-6482_7-32139310.html?tag=mncol;subnav

You can use a cable box or a cheap Digital TV receiver. You can buy them at walmart, You need one with A/V out puts such as Component. Here is a link to one. This will give you a tuner.

Tv is hooked to cable but still gets no picture or sound...only a blank blue screen

Verify that the source is set to "Tuner", "Cable", "Antenna" or "TV". (I don't know which of these names Maxent uses, and the site formerly used for their downloads is now a generic search page.) Make sure the TV format is correct for your region (in the US it should be ATSC, sometimes called HDTV).
If you have a portable TV, bring it over and connect the cable to it to verify that the cable connection is good.
Check the other inputs to verify that the internal video switch is functioning properly. If you don't find a problem with any of these tests, you likely have a tuner problem. Note: do not use a tool to tighten the cable on the tuner connection. I've seen a lot of tuners broken that way, including some with the circuit board ripped apart inside. Use your fingers, and just make the nut snug enough to hold the cable in place and secure the ground connection made through the nut.

Ok I have no skills when it comes to this stuff but can figure out the basics, i have basic cable now, and cant for the life of me figure out how to hook the cable up, i have a converter box already and...

OK! First, you have NO TUNER in that model. It's called a monitor. You have to use a cable box, satellite receiver or use an older style vcr with a tuner in it. With the vcr you won't see HD stations that broadcast in HD. You will see the old style analog.

Is there any way to connect basic cable to the tv without using a converter box or anything else

Recently, I dropped HBO with my cable company and there dont have a box. Since the Maxent 42 is only a monitor and doesnot have a tuner...there is no where to plug cable from the wall to the tv.
Solution...plug cable from wall to VCR/DVD and then use RCA cables (Red,White and Yellow cables) from output from VCR/DVD. works great.

I got a Maxent 42" Plazma Tv MX-42HPM20 with out the remote

Hey Z,

I believe the model # is RC-278 and is supposed to be the remote that comes with the TV. FYI - This TV operates best as a "Stand-alone" TV. As in the remote itself is not designed to work like a "Universal" remote and you may have issues in the future trying to hook up various other types of equipment (ie. DVD, Tuner, etc..)

Hope this helps!! Happy Holidays..

Hooking up a Mac to tv

I ran into the same problem with my "50 maxent. The manual clearly states that mac resolutions are not supported. We won't let that stop us. Step one is to download switchresx. It's a simple utility that should allow you to define custom resolutions. http://www.madrau.com/ .
Step 2 is to download chicken of the VNC. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9517 . Once this is installed on a separate mac from the one you are trying to connect to the maxent take your mini and hook it up to the RGB port on the maxent and boot it up. Once this is done use chicken of the vnc to take control of of the mini with the other mac. Now you can change the resolution on the mini using switchresx which you installed on the mini earlier. In the case of the maxent you will need to set it to 1366x768 at 60 hz. If using another flat panel consult your user manual for the correct resolution. In my opinion there is no flat paned tv this should not work for.
Good luck!

Maxent lcd

Your TV is an "HD-Ready" television. What this means is that your TV is ready to accept HD input from an outside source, but doesn't have the ability to produce the content itself. It is a monitor and does not have a digital tuner. Without a digital tuner (or for cable a QAM tuner) you will not receive OTA broadcast HD.

You need to purchase a High Definition capable set-top converter box. The converter box will have HD component out and may have HDMI out, either will feed your HD Ready TV.
