Bios Up date problem

I have a 835 GM gateway desktop computer, I did an update on the bios, but before the update complete, the power accidently off. After that, the computer couldn't boot up, when I turn on the power, all I see is the power light and the fan is blowing really strong, usually the fan will turn off after a little bit. And didn't see the video card either. Please help me on this.

Thank you very much.

I don't do many BIOS updates (mostly because they can be fatal to your system if they go wrong) but my general understanding is that if the update does not finish then you are out of luck. Your best bet will probably be to replace the motherboard completely.

Hopefully someone on here has a better idea though...

Best of luck :)

When you run a BIOS update it is basically replacing a piece of very important software that goes into the motherboard itself. If that software does not successfully install then the motherboard becomes useless. It's called "bricking" because it basically (in the case of cell phones and such) becomes an expensive paper weight.

If you get the model of motherboard and take it to a computer hardware store they should be able to tell you which motherboard would work as a replacement (assuming the motherboard type is still in production, if not you may be looking at replacing more then just the motherboard).

How do you set the system date and time

To set the Date & Time, go into the BIOS setting - date 7 time.
When you set the Date & Time and you get this error again when you next boot up your computer, then most likely you have a flat BIOS battery.
Then replace this battery, it could be a coin size battery - 3 volt lithium battery type CR2032. and then go into the BIOS setting and set the Date & Time.

I need a gateway gt5426e bios update for windows 7 64 bit

There is no bios update for this model. there should be no problem installing 64bit windows 7.
The athlon 5200 is a 64bit chip so there is no problem there. If you cant install and you think its bios related then reset the bios by either shorting the rtc pins or remove the battery and refit after 10 mins. make sure you reset the bios back to defaults before you make any changes to it.

My Gateway GM5972 computer shut down and will not start up again, There is no video or audio. The fan still runs, and the DVD drive come on, but computer will not start up

Despite the fans running and the dvd powering up it could still be a power supply problem BUT it really sounds like the motherboard died.
I have built and repaired thousands of computers and your description fits the majority of the dead ones. Replacing the motherboard with a like board is the easiest solution. You can replace with a different motherboard but be prepared for problems. I wouldnt suggest it unless you are a experianced tech.

I have a Gateway 840 GM and I have just replaced

At first check the battery that's on you motherboard. The battery powers the bios on your motherboard. The bios detects you push the power button and turns on the pc. If the battery is dead the bios has no power, so it cannot detect you push the power button and will not turn on the pc. So replacing the battery will solve the problem. If the battery is not the problem, I think your motherboards bios is dead. Maybe it can be fixed but you'll have to send it back to the manufacturer I think.

I need to access the BIOS on my Gateway GT5428 PC

well, the most common BIOS entry keys are F1, F2, F10, and Delete.
push one while the computer is booting, before windows starts booting.
