The filters go on the back of the lens (the end that connects to the camera). If you detach the lens and look inside, you'll see a threaded ring. Simply screw the filter on, similar to how you put filters on the front end of other lenses.

Due to the great magnification ratio of this lens, you absolutely need to have it on a tripod or other stable support. Even the slightest camera shake will be magnified.

The lens also has very little depth of field, so you must focus precisely. Since you're mounted on a tripod, you might want to activate the LiveView feature and zoom in the subject while you focus.

Fungus on Rokinon 500mm mirror lens

Do you have a lens collimator and other equipment necessary to ensure proper alignment when reassembling the lens? If not, take it to a good camera shop and have a properly trained and equipped professional do the job.

Fungus inside Rokinon F6.3 mirror 500mm lens

This will have to be sent in for repair, no other way around it. Call a camera repair facility first before you send it in to get a quote, many times a new or used lens is cheeper. Don't forget to check Ebay. Good-luck

Installing the Rokinon 500mm/1000mm f/8.0 Mirror Lens for Nikon

This lens does not have the electronics to communicate with the camera. You have to use the camera on the Manual exposure mode (turn the mode dial to M) and set the aperture and shutter speed yourself. You will not get any metering help from the camera's light meter, but you can use the histogram to fine-tune your exposure. You also have to focus the camera manually.

You'll want to use a tripod or other support, as the lens will magnify every bit of camera shake.

I also have recently purchased a Rokinon 500-1000 mm telephoto lens with the 2x multiplier, however, when I attach it to my Nikon D3000 the camera still says "lens not attached" Is there...

The Rokinon lens does not have the electronics to communicate with the camera. You must set the camera to the Manual exposure mode in order to use this lens. You control the shutter speed on the camera and the aperture by turning the ring on the lens. You also will not be able to use the camera's exposure meter; you can use the LCD display and the histogram to fine-tune the exposure.

Refer to the manual for full details on using the Manual exposure mode.

How to attach filters to a Rokinon 500mm/ 1000mm Mirror Lens for Canon EOS

For the Rokinon 500mm F/6.3 lens, you can either attach 95mm filters to the front or 34mm filters to the rear of the lens.

For the Rokinon 500mm F/8 lens, you can only attach 30.5mm filters to the rear of the lens.

To attach a filter to the rear of the lens, remove the lens from the camera (or take the rear lens cap off). There's a threaded screw mount just inside of where the lens fits onto the camera. Take your filter and screw it into place. Hand tighten until it's snug and doesn't project in the way---remember, you're going to want to take it off again later.

Bascially the t-mount was screwed on to the camera and when the lens was screwed on the t-mount the camera said that there was no lens so my nikon wouldnt work. can u give me any tips on what to do next.

The Rokinon lens lacks the electronics to communicate with the camera. You need to set the camera to the Manual exposure mode. Since the mirror lens also lacks an aperture control, you will need to control the exposure by changing the shutter speed and/or the ISO setting. Also, depending on the model of your Nikon, you may or may not get any exposure assistance from the camera's light meter. If you don't, you can use the image review on the LCD and the histogram to tune your exposure.

How do I mount the 500mm mirror lens filter(s) on my new Rokinon lens?

The 30.5mm rear filters fit in the rear of the lens. If you remove the T-mount adapter, you should see the threads which take the filter.
