Buying a new a/c compressor in the summer is so expensive. Is there anywhere I can buy a repair kit that will get me through the rest of summer so I don't have to spend so much money?

Walmart sells a great temporary repair kit that should last through the rest of the summer months and come winter, you can look into finding a more permanent replacement for you're a/c compressor that will not be as expensive.

A new kit is fairly cheap: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-Men-7053U-Over-Grooming/dp/B002FGTJ0O

I couldn't find just the charger anywhere... I would recommend just buying a new kit.

I have a 1991 dodge colt vista they said i need pistons or rebuild the motor is it worth fixing it or should i sell it to the ecolgy wreck please give me a answer quick and how much will it cost me to fix...

A professional engine rebuild can cost anywhere from $500 to $1500 or more, depending on what needs to be replaced/serviced.

If you plan on doing the work yourself, you could get away with less than $200.

Whether or not it's "worth it" to fix the car or replace it, is relative. You have to remember to factor in the cost of purchasing/fixing a new car versus the one you're driving now.

Vehicle resale value should not be considered in whether or not it's "worth it" to repair a vehicle, unless you intend to repair it before selling it. The primary consideration should be the cost of fixing it versus the costs you will incur utilizing other options, such as buying new, buying used with payments, buying used outright, etc.

Keep in mind that all vehicles eventually need service, and a more expensive vehicle tends to need more expensive service procedures.

Our dryer has no heat. Is it worth fixing?

Hello ES Bailey,

The answer depends on a couple of other considerations first. If the dryer has been a good perfoming appliance for most of the time and hasn't had any major issues or constant repairs needed, it would be less expensive to repair the dryer than to buy new.

Some other things to consider, is the interior drum of the dryer still in good shape/condition? If so, repairs will be cheaper than buying a new dryer every time.

If the washing machine you have is getting ready for replacement, you might want to consider buying a whole new set of laundry appliances, but again, it makes more sense to buy only the appliance you need, rather than getting all new ones. Unless money isn't an issue and you're looking to get a newer style front loading washer, etc.

My only other advice is to say that there is nothing much in the way of technology or energy savings features for a dryer made today than one made 15 years ago. There is no such thing as an energy start rated dryer made anywhere in the world, unless you're hanging clothes on a clothesline to dry. So the only thing you'd get by buying a new dryer is, a new dryer at a higher price than the repair will be.

If it were me, I'd post a new question with the brand AND model number of the dryer and provide some details on gas or electric and so on and get some advice on how to fix the problem yourself and keep using it for years to come.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

The compressor died on my 02 Bravada and I have a leak in one of the air bags/springs. I was thinking of buying two new air springs and just bypassing the compressor till I replace it. I was thinking I...

I shared the exact issue this past summer with my 02 Bravada. For about 26 dollars you can put a valve stem on both airlines and bypass the expensive dead compressor. This fixed the problem for about a month until one airbag began to leak faster than the other and the truck always seemed to sit unlevel. Today I purchased 2 used coil springs from a junkyard for 65 dollars and replaced the airbags in less than an hour without any special tools. The truck sits up well and level and I'm glad to be rid of all problems that go along with having air suspension. GM used the same coil springs on the Envoy, Trail Blazer and Buick Reiner.

Fridge not blowing cold, Buzzing inside black ball "compressor"

The black ball you are reffering to is the compressor. It is trying to start..that is the buzzing. The start, and overload relay is probably bad..hopefully.Because if it isn't the compressor may be bad.Where your wires plug into the compressor...this is the relay.it should come off fairly easy.It is much cheaper to replace this part..than buying a new fridge. For instance i buy them for g.e. refrigerators all the time from an appliance repair shop at cost, and they are less than 4 dollars for me.So I assume they aren't too expensive retail.
