This guide is intended for use with the Eurovox but the equipment required is the same for flashing other boxes. The only differences will be with the relevant box firmware and its loader software.
WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Null Modem Cable ( available from here )
2. Serial to USB Adaptor ( available from here

The above adaptor assumes that you want to use a laptop to do the job; as most recent laptops do not have a serial port, you must purchase the adaptor.

The Serial to USB adaptor will come with a drivers disk. So install this before we go any further and follow on screen instructions.

Connect the adaptor to the USB port on the laptop. Connect one end of the the Null Modem cable to the Adaptor and the other to the serial port on the Eurovox.

Provided you have downloaded the correct version, proceed:

The file will have to be extracted. Use winzip or winrar for this procedure ( Very easy )

Ensure the Box is powered on. You can leave connected to the TV if you choose.

If you have your channels set up in Favourites we will back them up before flashing, although in some instances, the new update will not affect stored channels if your firmware is not too dated.

Anyway, go to the file which you extracted and start the application. ( It will be named UFL_MaxV_Kuro V........ ) Your first action will be to upload channel data. Select a name and a location for the file and save it. It is at this point you will be alerted if the box has connected with the PC. If it has not, do the following:

Go to Desktop / Right click" My Computer" / Select Properties / Hardware / Device Manager / Ports & Com Ports. Now select the next option to appear , in my case it's prolific serial to com port. Now select Port settings / Advanced / Change com port to 1,2,3 or 4 / OK / Exit .

Go back to the loader screen and you should now be able to communicate with the box.

Following channel data backup, you must now download the firmware to the box. Again, it is indicated on the screen and very easy to do. Once initiated, the box will display DNLD message and a progress bar will appear on the laptop screen. Allow to complete fully ! Do not disconnect until UPDATE SUCCESSFUL message appears on the screen. This can, in some cases, be 30seconds after 100% has been reached on the progress bar.

Finally, download your channel data and the operation is complete.

Now:
factory reset,
re scan,
go into the menu where you click on the set default key
switch on Emu
exit 3 times
wait for code to update
needs to be done after you have applied the fix,
And if that doesn't work put on Sky or Setanta orParamount+1 for a second, certain channels kickstart the process.

Hope this helps

Your recorder is mostly analogue with just a hdmi output, you need to link up using a scart lead or similar adapter lead for recording, looks to me like scart 1 (decoder) or the front sockets for input use while. the other scart looks to be just for TV to use.
If your TV has another hdmi then I would have thought your sky sat would connect that way leaving the scart for your video.
Though if it has only one, then you are looking at a multi input box for hdmi (some are automatic others have remote control) or demote your video's hdmi lead and connect it to the Sky sat, use the scart lead to link it with the video's scart 1 and the other scart socket to TV by the look of things.
Its a problem with older and younger equipment because they are built at different times with their connections decided by that time of manufacture.

Hope this helps..........

Problems with Philips vhs recorder/dvd player

You only need coaxial cable to pick up TV stations broadcast via an aerial. If your TV has sockets to connect via HDMI or SCART, then any players can be connected via them. So if the adapter box picks up TV signals, you connect the main aerial cable to that and it should have a coaxial out socket, that should be connected to the aerial in of your TV. If you are recording to an analogue video from the adapter box, then that will need to be connected via a scart socket or other connection.

Ive just brought a freeview box but cant get any sound

Assuming you are plugging Freeview box to TV direct via a scart lead
It may be that the scart lead that you are using does not have its audio pins connected. Make sure you have a lead with all pins wired

Hi there! I have a 19" Beko Tv about 4 years old. The sound has gone altogether. Picture good though. We have it attached to a freeview top box. Husband saying its the topbox that's faulty. ...

Hi,
I assume that you have attached it via SCART cable...since SCART plugs have 21 pins, and carry video, audio and switching signals ,sometimes a bad connection on either TV side or Top Box side ,the sound goes off first..Make sure your SCART plugs securely fit to either side.
If it does not help pls visit the URL below for further advise before going to blame the Top Box....

I can't seem to get it to record any shows off my t.v.

the hdmi connections are input only.
if the tv has scart sockets on the back, and the recorder also, connect to these. the tv's scart needs to be either 2 way or out put shown with an arrow pointing out of a box for output and a 2way arrow for 2way scart.usually scart socket 2 is 2way. set the recorder as you would normally but set the channel to tye av or scart that you are using. please note that video plus will not work on the scart socket. you may also have to set the output for the scart socket via the menu.

My analogue tv doesn't do anything when connected to the new set top box. The scart is connected and the aerial also. Are there some anologue tv's that can't receive the digital signal? I already have 1...

Have you checked that your aerial is connected into the set top box & not into the TV? The aerial signal has to go into the set top box & then the box will be connected via your Scart cable into the TV. On the TV you will need to select the Scart input ie. AV1. This should give you the set top box incoming signal, you might then have to tune in the box by following the on screen instructions. Hope this help.

LG Plasma 42PC56 optical digital audio out

I can't imagine your setup. Box, tv and pc speakers?
Typical setup would be box, tv and some kind audio system with optical IN. Correct wiring would be connect box to tv via scart and connect optical cable from BOX to audio system. You have to go from box not from TV since scart connection doesn't carry audio signal. To have TV to output optical audio out you would have to connect it to box via hdmi.

Whaere is the scart lead?

http://www.e-daewoo.com/products/owners_manual/DTS42(English).pdf

Please have a look at the above user manual from the Daewoo site. You may need to down load the Adobe PDF reader if you can't open the file. You can get that from this web site;-

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

I am not sure that this is exactly your model but one page of the PDF document , page 14 shows the connections at the back of the TV with no obvious SCART connection. So I think you will have to connect the two using a component video cable and the Left and right audio cables as show in the manual on page 28. or via an s video cable and right and left audio cables as show on page 30.

If the connections in this manual look about right for the connections on the back of the your TV set I would be tempted to take this manual printed out (or just the image of the back of the set page 14) down to your local TV shop with the Freeview box and ask them what cables they recommend you use to connect the set.

Also be aware that cables from these TV shops cost a fortune and you can probably buy the cables cheaper on eBay once you know which ones you need. Without seeing the freview box its hard to know what cable options that box offers you.
