Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop, the start button doesn't start windows, but only QuickPlay begins and opens up. From that there's a windows icon for which I click on to start windows. But the screen opens to windows hibernating screen and shuts down. No other buttons get windows to load. Help.

Start windows in safe mode, if you have antivirus installes run it from safe mode, if it does into stand by in safe mode, you may have other issues but it sounds like a virus to me so far.

Tell me how to activate the camera ,because i can see people am talking to,but they cant see me,this is what they tell me.

Hi,

I am presenting below solution by keeping in mind that the webcam software is installed on your laptop.

Compaq laptops come with QuickPlay features that allow you to conveniently access your built-in webcam. Use the QuickPlay software to activate the webcam in your Compaq laptop and record videos and photos right onto your hard drive. The software is straightforward and simple to understand for both novice and experienced computer users.
Step 1 Click the "Start" icon and type "quickplay" into the search field. Click the "QuickPlay" entry that appears in the results. Alternately, press the "QuickPlay" button located near the laptop's display.
Step 2 Click the "Video" icon in the QuickPlay interface that opens, then double-click the "HP Webcam" option in the "Source" window. The image from your webcam appears on the screen.

Do post if you still find problems in accessing the webcam.

Thanks,
Amar

I have a problem in using my webcam, its indicated that i need to turn it on.

You need a program like QuickPlay or Muvee Autoproducer to activate the webcam. When in Quickplay, go to the bottom of the screen, select the icon with a camera, and then choose the device from the left-hand menu.

Press the QuickPlay button (normally located near the display) on the notebook PC to open the QuickPlay application.

Alternately, click Start , type QuickPlay in the search field, and select QuickPlay when it becomes available to open the QuickPlay application.

Click the Video icon, and double-click HP webcam in the Source column.

The input from the webcam displays on the screen

How do i turn on my web cam on my new windows 7 compaq laptop?

You use, Quickplay, To access QuickPlay, just press the "blue QuickPlay button" next to the power button. If it doesn't load QuickPlay, just do "Start" - "All Programs" - then you will see QuickPlay listed there. If you still can't find it just do a search, you will find the short-cut.

Once launched QuickPlay, click on the 2nd icon from left (between DVD and TV icon), then double-click on "HP Pavilion WebCam" from the left side panel, then you will see the blue LED light lit and you should see yourself on the screen. (Double-click "yourself" to enlarge image)

To take a picture or record video, just press the corresponding buttons on the top. (the red circle icon is for recording video (press "Stop" icon to stop recording), the camera icon is for, well, camera)
Videos and pictures are saved at:
Pictures -- C:\Users\Public\Pictures\My Snapshots
Videos -- C:\Users\Public\Videos\HP Webcam

Just go to:

C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay

and see if you have QuickPlay installed or not.

If yes, then double click on "QP.exe", and that should bring up QuickPlay. And later you can make a shortcut to it.

I have followed all instructions to turn on hp web cam on Pavillion dv6000 to no avail. I have gone to Quickplay and the instructions say there will be a webcam icon on the left 6 down but its not there....

In most cases like this I have found that the cause of the problem is with the thin flat cable that leads from the camera to the motherboard. These cables are easily damaged because they run through the right hinge. The cable is fairly inexpensive and easy the change out. I will include a ink to the service manual in PDF format.

HP pavillion dv6000 power button has trouble working

WORKAROUND: until I get brave enough to open the case and fix/swap the cable I use the QuickPlay touch button to start system. I must hit CTL/ALT/DEL when the first HP screen appears which causes Windows to start normally without going through the QuickPlay/hibernate hassle. Hope this helps a little.
