Question about Dell 3000cn Color Laser Printer
My 3000CN printer ran out of yellow toner. I removed the
cartridge and shook it to level the toner, then re-installed it. The printer
then gave me a message of "Wrong Cartridge, Yellow toner
I then ordered two yellow cartridges from an after market source and they both give the same message. I'm concerned that I messed up some sensor in the printer.
It is also likely that the electrical connection to the chip in the cartridge is not making it. I used a damp cloth to clean toner out of the area, but to no avail.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: removing toner cartridge
When the toners go in, they are locked down using the colored part of the cartridge. This holds them in place for printing. However, sometimes even when unlocked they can be very difficult to remove.
After you are sure it is unlocked, do your best to wiggle the cartridge until it start to feel like it is coming loose, and you should be able to pull it out. Do not under any circumstances force it out, just take some time to loosten it up.

are you using a dell-branded toner cartridge? if yes, then you should replace the toner cartridge sensor and machine control unit (MCU). if no, you can enable the non-dell toner mode on your printer's operator panel. how? press menu, down until "configure" & press select; down until "maintenance" & press select; down until "non-dell toner" & press select; down until "on" & press select.
