Question about Xerox Phaser 6250DP Laser Printer

My Xerox Phaser 6250 won't duplex all of a sudden

We have a wireless network and print to the Xerox Phaser 6250. All of a sudden it won't duplex, and not sure if it will colate either.

I don't have an answer, but I can add some detail since I have the same problem (6250 that suddenly won't duplex).

I have a wired network with multiple Vista machines connected and have been duplexing just fine for YEARS with the same PCs and same drivers. One day my wife complained she couldn't duplex and I messed around, updated drivers, rebooted everything, etc. etc. and finally gave up and sent the print job from my laptop where it duplexed just fine.

About a week or so later I noticed that my laptop would no longer duplex either! Once again I updated the drivers, rebooted, tried different settings, etc. etc. but no luck.

I'm pretty convinced that a Windows patch has caused this issue (which is why there is a timing difference between my machines). I've rolled back my system to remove several patches and things seem to work fine again, however I'm not exactly sure which patch causes the problem AND within a few days Microsoft reinstalls the patch automatically.

Unfortunately I'm not confident that Xerox will put much effort into fixing this driver problem since this is not only an "old" printer, but I don't think many people do much duplexing (so there won't be many people yelling for help).

I'll let you know if I find a better work-around or fix.

    Well I've been barking up the wrong tree!



    Nothing to do with any Windows patches (although I do love to blame Microsoft!).



    Xerox support responded to my email in a VERY timely manner, and it turns out it is a paper setup issue...here is there fix that worked for me.



    If you're selecting duplex printing on your driver and the machine still refuses to duplex, most of the time it is due to an unsupported duplexing media. Print a configuration page from information/information pages on the machine's menu. This should tell you what your trays are set to. If they are set to labels, transparency, or a thick cardstock. If the machine thinks it is loaded with these types of media, it will refuse to duplex and they need to be corrected through the Printer Setup/Paper Handling setup.

Where is the printhead? Printer stopped printing 2 sides after power failure. I think head may be stuck to the wiper, but I don't know where it is.


The 6250 is a laser printer and has to printhead or wiper. If it's not printing 2 sided that's most likely the duplex unit giving the problem, but please verify the model.

Phaser 6250 - When I print a page - it is 50% the size it should be.


try changing the settings for your printer and see what that does i had the same problem. i changed the settings and it printed normally

Xerox Phaser 8400 does not support double sided prints. You have to have a Duplex Unit for Phaser 8400 part number 097S03177 to be able to print double sided. If you have the duplex unit, on the Print dialog box just click Preferences and under 2-Sided Printing select 2-Sided Print then Apply.

How do you use photo paper in a xerox phaser 6250?


If you want to use photo paper for your Xerox phaser make sure the photo paper is meant to be used in your printer. The best paper would be the Xerox brand photo paper which is made to be used in the Xerox phaser printers. You use them like normal paper and print your document or image onto the paper. If you cannot find the paper that works with this xerox printer go to the Xerox website and under supplies, then entering your printer model it will give a list to the paper recommended for this model.

Xerox phaser 6120 not duplex printing since it's wireless network


You have to go to printer properties and look for "optional functions" or something to that effect, and check the option "duplexing unit" or similar.
By default the computer does not know, that your printer has duplex capabilities.

Sounds like it is time to replace the imaging drum. This is a consumable and usually done every 15-20k pages. Cost is about $250-300 and very easily replaced, fast as changing a toner.

I am assuming that you tried changing the yellow toner already? If not, do that first...
