There is no diable for the on board video. just install the PCI video card. Connect the monitor to the PCI card. that is it.

Don't automatically blame the video card. That boot code means memory refresh error. Try reseting your mems. If that fails pull out memory cards one at a time. If one gives the error and the other doesn't, you have your problem. Next, try to reseat the video card more firmly. Last resort, disable to on board video to avoid conflicts. Still think memory u is your best bet.

if you are able to open the pc open it. Remove the cmos battery and turn on the pc and again turn of the pc and install the battery again. if it doesnt work try to locate the cmos jumper on the mother board and clear the bios

Gateway GT5040 Graphics Card


This model Gateway desktop computer has a built-in video card.
Connect the monitor to the Gateway motherboard video port and the boot up and go into the BIOS and select disable the built-in video.
Shut down then connect the monitor to the 8800GTX video card and boot up the Gateway computer. The video should then appear in the monitor.

Yes generally speaking when you drop in a videocard it typically will disable the built on one. You may have to disable it though. I know you said you did not see the onboard video in BIOS but there is almost always a setting in there to turn it off.

when you power up press F2 or "del" key
then go to adavanced in bios and find onbord VGA disable it if you want to disable on bord vga.
Tehn save settings and exit.

first install the video card in the pci slot first so that you have access to your monitors screen for you to disable the on board video chip or video card, go to the CMOS setup by pressing del key. once there you can browse through the CMOS setup to disable the on board video chip.

there is no need of disabling the on board if u have a new pc..
just install the card to ur AGP/PCI-Express slot then turn the pc on then install the driver !!
