GE Dryer model DSXH43EAOWW won't stay on.

Has been working fine for 7 yrs. Today coworkers noticed sparks coming out of the back! It will not stay on unless the switch is held in the the start position manually. What should we do?

SOURCE: GE Dryer doesn't give out heat.

OK, i would check the thermal fuse. is usually located on or around the blower housing. Check the vent duct if its not on the blower motor housing. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

If the fuse is OK, there is only one more problem spot and that will be the timer itself. replace the timer/control if the fuse is OK.

SOURCE: Dryer won't stay running

I had the same problem with my kemore. Thank goodness I still had it under warranty.
The tech said the door latch was just slightly ajar. This is common he said that when we take clothes out we let the door close to hard or gets ajar for leaning in to take clothes out.
He readjusted it and I have never had a problem with it again.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: My GE Gas Dryer won't

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the vent is clean then it seems to be the issue with the Thermal Fuse/Thermostat going bad and needs to be replaced. It is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter, no continuity means the fuse is bad and you need to replace it. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Need a color coded wiring diagram of the timer M460-G for the GE electric dryer DSXH43EAOWW

All GE dryers have a wiring diagram inside the control panel on the left side as you stand in front of the dryer. It should show the wiring in black but with color coding listed for each wire. If yours is missing I will try to locate a copy. SearsPartsDirect use to have some wiring diagrams on their parts site.

I just had a new GE dryer delivered today and as soon as they left, I noticed there was some oil or something on the back of the dryer. Is that normal or do I have some type of leakage there?

Hi, there are no component's in your dryer that contain "oil". I'd suggest the oil on the back may have come from an external source, perhap's the delivery company, I would wipe it down really well and not worry about it. Hope this help's. If so, please rate this answer provided for you here at fixya. Thank you and good luck. macmarkus :)

Sparks in the Dryer

Ken,
Those blue sparks are coming from the element grounding out to the frame (specifically, the back side of the rotating drum). Obviously, this isn't gonna fix itself. There may be a "re-string" kit for yours, but often the only way to buy the element is to buy the whole heater assy., and w/ GE that's generally not that cheap.

Another thing (aside from cost) is the absolute nightmare this dryer is to repair. I've done probably 200 of these and I dread it each and every time. Then again, when I run these service calls I'm limited to working in the (generally small and cramped) laundry rooms that they are in... if you move it out to a garage where there's plenty of room it still won't be great, but it would be optimal.

If you choose to repair it, write back with the exact model number and I'll look up the parts and step you through the repair.

Nothing comes on. Outlet has power. 2 yrs 1 month old.

This sounds like the main PCB is blown. it may be worth checking the main PCB for damage and a blow fuse if you can locate one- caused likely by a power surge (maybe claim insurance), faulty dryer motor, faulty element or wiring fault in dryer. cheers
