Question about Jenn-Air JJW8530C Expressions Collection Dual Single Oven
I have a Jenn-Aire built in double oven about 7 years old. It is working fine except the display on the top unit has grown VERY DIM recently. Indeed, I can barely see the time displayed and the data that displays while the unit is in operation (temp and so forth) is barely legible now because it's so dim. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Digital display is very dim
The most common cause is the failure of an under-sized capacitor on the display unit. Look at the board under the display, the component is labeled C3. It is a small cylinder with the label 68mf, 35V on the side and is attached by 2 small wires. It will probably be a little burnt or have small brown drips like syrup under it. You can buy the component at Circuit City or anything like that for about 75 cents. You need a pencil soldering iron (about $10) to remove the old part and put the new one on. If you can drip a candle, you can solder these 2 wires.

SOURCE: dim display.
The display sits on a circuit board. Pull the board out and replace capacitor C3. It is 68 micro farads. I used a 47 from Radio Shack and it works great. If you can find a 68, that would be ok too, of course!

Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.
If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.

You need to replace the C3 capacitor on the control board
You can replace only the C3 - it is 68uF / 35V and you can go to Radio Shack and get their part # 272-1028 - 100uF/35V one. It takes all but 10 minutes to re-solder the new one in place
