Re: Xerox 5855C Copier
This error can be missleading.
It may have to do with the NVM in the main board.
Check if the waist bottle is full in diagnostics. Clear this back to Zero.
Also check and see if the other settings have gone over threshold.
Presure roll, developer, Heat roll, Full sump bottle. Especially full sump bottle this can come up and stop the machine.
If anything else try to reinitialize the settings. Remember you need to have written down the values before you do this proceedure.
This is not an easy task to repair even for a Xerox service rep.

I am afraid that that foult code means that the machine's software has to be reloaded. The only way this can be done is by a qulified xerox tech. It need a laptop with special software to connect to the machine to do the download.
This machine must have a stapler and a sorter.
Most common problem to fix it is to replace the main board inside the sorter.
Other problems are the sorter needs to be latched correctly so the actuator (steel pin) can actuate the closed interlock switch.
This sorter is usually pretty realiable, when a problem occurs, then it is really big problems. This would require the schematic to locate the other power circit boards to see where the sorter lost power.
Other possible problems can be an old NVM battery on the main board. (Date on the chip over 10 years old) When the battery is not good, this causes memory corruption to the values, machine setup configuration. The memory gets corrupted causing the machine to malfuntion.
Not seeing the machine, it is difficult to further trobleshoot the problem.
I am not sure I answered this question before, because I do not see the response I put in one of these for this problem.
This code 3-326 is not an easy problem to repair.
For simple repairs, one would take off the rear covers and disconnect any plug on a circuit bord and plug it back on. This would reseat the plugs for some loose pin connections or some pins not contacting very good. This is true especially with the pink wires, the 5 volt lines.
Another problem might be the low voltage power supply, its expensive if you need to replace it. Also the large high voltage power supply. These two can go bad when one of the voltages go out.
From here, these types of codes can be hidden errors. If the exposure setting is off, the machine will shut off and the exposure needs to be recalibrated. You need a service manual to do that and some expert knowlege to do it. There are many areas to check in diagnostics and if you do not know what you are doing if you ever get into it, dont try to change setting.
The service manual covers an extensive amount of information. There is a booklet that goes with it with the diagnostics setting and shows how and where to change them.
For this type of problem, it is better to call your Xerox service representative, pay the fee and let the service representative explain your options before you pay more money and time to repair the machine. Time is not on your side with a machine that has been out in the field for a number of years. Plastic cracks in places you never thought of, and rubber decomposes and turns to a goo substance, like a jell.
U6 code means that you have a problem with the exposure lamp or exposure lamp circuit working properly.Hold down the 0(zero) key while turning the unit on and punch in the codes 20 start 3 this will enable you to clear the code unless you have a permanent problem where a part has to be replaced
The fuser is not warming up.
On that machine under the web there is a thermal fuse on a white plastic mount, it has one screw through it.
It is most likely blown. Possibly caused by a jammed paper in the fuser.
That fusable link needs to be replaced.
