Power Problem My television recently stopped working altogether. I turned it on and was watching it for a few minutes and it lost the picture and sound. The red LED indicator on the front was on (as to show that the unit has power), but there was no picture and no sound. I turned the power off and unplugged the TV and then plugged it in again and tried turning it on. The same thing happened. The red LED indicating power turns on in the front, but neither the picture nor the sound come on. If I listen carefully, I can hear a quiet oscillating sound coming from the back of the TV. Is it possible that an internal power supply or internal fuse blew? Please help.

Same problem - audio works but red Led light in front is on with no picture. I was thinking it may be bulb?

My TV is doing the same thing, I push the power button and it sounds like it turns on but I have no picture and no sound. I unplugged it waited 10 min. then plugged it back in and still the same thing. What can it be? I too was thinking the bulb, but why no sound? I have had a convergence problem twice in the past, and had to have the stk I.C.'s replaced, but this one is new. I am thinking it is time for a new TV!!

I have the same problem. TV will not come on and will only show power button and will flash. I can hear clicking sound and a slight odor but nothing else. Any idea how much would cost to repair or should I just look at a new TV. TV is about 8 years old and have already replaced picture tubes twice.

Most often this problem is caused by convergence ic's. STK392-110. Sometimes cause is vert. i.c. Also, many times it is from bad solder connections on circuit board. In any case, short of unplugging unit to reset, there's not much you can do without help from repairman.By(1)removing rear cover,(2) unscrewing 2 screws holding chassis in and(3) undo all clips and wire ties holding wiring in place. Small board on (R) side is conv. Slide entire chassis towards you. Remove 3 screws from small conv. board.Remove and mark 5 plugs and 4 black jumper plugs to free board. Look at bottom of board for rings around solder joints at pins of main amps.(STK392-110). Resolder or replace amps and reinstall board. Reconnect 4 jumpers and 5 plugs in same order. Power up unit and hit magic focus. This is most common repair.

Sony FWD50PX2/S 50 in. Plasma Television power problem

It does sound like a power supply problem but that can be misleading because a problem somewhere else in the TV can be "holding down" the power supply. This can usually be determined by using some isolation techniques.
