Ethernet Problem Like in a recent post, I am having problems with the Dell ethernet drivers. (from the Dell site) After reformating, all drivers worked accept the network drivers. After fresh install, installed the chipset drivers, then video, then network. It showed a limited connection, Then I tried making it a static IP since the "ipconfig /all" showed me no DNS. So I pluged my other PC and retrieved the IP info in full. Then pluged in the Dell and entered the ip info. Then it said it's conflicting with a another IP on this system??? Any ideas??

Re: Ethernet Problem

DJDXL, it sounds like when you copied the IP settings from the other computer on your network, you copied the Static IP address from that computer as well. This is most likely the reason you're seeing the conflicting IP address - they both want to be (insert your own IP address here). You should change them so they are using different numbers on the final set of digits - for example, and - the last numbers must NOT match, but the first three sets should match.

Give that a try, hope this helps!

Re: Ethernet Problem

If it is telling you there is a conflict the drivers are working it is the properties of the network card that are incorrect. Click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.(note the gap between ipconfig and the /). Go to the properties of your network card and on the TCP/IP line click properties and tick 'Obtain ip address automatically'

Can anyone tell me how to uninstall ethernet card in dell optiplex 320? I also need to know where to download and install the ethernet card. I can't go to ipconfig and see my ip address. The tech sup...

The ethernet card on the Dell Optiplex 320 is integrated into the motherboard and can not be physically removed. However, a new ethernet card could still be installed into one of the available PCI slots and can be purchased at just about any computer parts retailer.

Before you jump to replacing the card I would recommend trying a few things yourself to fix the card. Here are some suggestions:
One thing to try is disabling and then re-enabling the device through the device manager.
Another thing to try, go to the command prompt where you did the ipconfig, and type
IPCONFIG /release
then type

Those two commands have fixed many "dead" ethernet cards.
If those commands don't work and fix your problem I recommend giving this utility a try:
WinSock XP Fix
Does the computer recognize that there is an ethernet card in the system? Have you had any viruses or spyware/malware on the machine recently?

I recently formated my hard drive on my dimension 5150 now i can't connect to the internet to update the puter because i can find the ethernet driver

Find a computer with internet access and type into the browser. It will prompt a download for your network card. Burn it to a CD or copy to USB drive. Then take to your computer and run the file and your ethernet card will be working. This is for the ethernet card on your motherboard. If you have an aftermarket one as well this will get you on your way.

Ethernet driver

Note the Service Tag of the the PC and access the Dell website from another PC. Go into the support section of Dell website, select Download Drivers, and enter the service tag of your PC.

You should be able to find the ethernet driver for it (if there are 2 or more download both and save to a CD or USB memory stick.

Now go to your Dell. You should be able to run the program from the USB stick and it will restore the Ethernet connection.

Do the same for other drivers you need, sound, graphics, etc.

Ethernet controller

More than likely this is the one that you need. It is for a Broadcom NIC. If that one doesn't work, they have this one for a Gigabit NIC listed here. I would start withe the integrated NIC divers. Both files have download instructions on the page if you need it.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Window Re-Install and no Ethernet Driver

use another computer to get the drivers from the dell webite (at home, library, friends) and save them on a CD or removable media. This would be the fastest and cost effective way. If you can get on the net to post this question then you can download and save the drivers as well
