Question about Computer Monitors

1 Answer

Start Task bar not showing

Windows XP loads, all the icons appear but the Start task bar is not visible. If I open one of the icons (eg. Excel) & then minimise the window it goes somewhere but cannot be seen. I am therefore unable to perform any functions, get to any programs not featured on my desktop or shutdown other than by just switching off the power.

Please help.

Pressing the Windows key does nothing.

Thanks very much. Did not mean to imply it wasn't helpful just that I had already tried pressing windows button & it hadn't fixed the problem. If I open an icon eg. Excel & then minimise the spreadsheet it drops down somewhere so I am sure the task bar is there it just is not visible. I have tried moving the icons up to the top of the screen - now up as far as the monitor controls allow & the task bar is still not visible. Hope this gives you more info to work with

Have reset the monitor & reset it to the factory settings, all to no avail. Have also downloaded the manual but it has not helped either.

Press the Windows key to open the Start menu, then right-click the start button and choose properties.

Next, go to the task bar tab and
1. Uncheck auto-hide
2. Check keep task bar on top of other windows

I am trying to help, this solution is not inappropriate.
If you were to give me more time to troubleshoot, possibly we would have fixed your problem.

Have you tried resetting your monitor?
Look for a reset button on the front panel, or somewhere in the control menu.

It may not be a windows setting, but may be your monitor itself.

How do i move the task bar

Generally, right-click the task bar>properties or right-click the desktop>personalize>taskbar.

In XP, right-click task bar & unlock. Then, you have to"grab" the bar itself between the start button & the first bar or icon & drag it. Takes some doing, but it eventually moves. You may need to wrestle it into the correct position- especially if it gets doubled in height.

Task bar shrinking in width working after sometime. task bar width slowly decreases while working. task bar items appear distorted

There are several high voltage capacitors in this circuit. One or more is beginning to fail. These caps need to be tested with an ESR meter to determine their status. Take the monitor to a pro or visit my site WWW.micromendllc.com

Windows XP taskbar sink

This happens because you have set your Taskbar to Autohide mode.

Do the following steps:

  1. Move the mouse to the bottom of screen and let the task bar come up
  2. Right click on task bar
  3. Click on properties
  4. On the Task bar Tab Unchek Auto-hide the task bar
  5. Click Apply
  6. Press OK
Thats it

Compaq n600c hang problem plz slove my problem

Please give more information Like --
After how much time it hangs?
what OS u r using?

in general answer --
open task manager (pressing CTRL,ALT, DEL keys) this will bring up Windows Task Manger, click on Application, highlight any task that is Not Responding and click on End Task.

Also, to make your CPU boot up faster, I would
click on Start
click on Run
type msconfig.exe (this will open System Configuration Utility box)
click on the Start Up Tab
(you will see several boxes checked under Startup Item). And look for programs that you don't want to launch every single time you log on. (such as Realpayer, yahooMessegner, realsched, etc).
Uncheck the boxes and this will require a reboot. Your computer will bootup a lot faster. These programs you can always open when you want. You can always tell if you have a lot of programs that startup when you turn on your cpu and in the righthand corner, where the time time is at, you see a lot of icons.

Also if you can always open up task manager again, click on Processes, find explorer.exe and kill that process, this closes everything on your screen. dont worry...
then in task manager
click on FIle
New Task Run
and type explorer.exe and click OK
and you will see all your icons pop back up on the screen.

Post reply....
Thanks
