Question about Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 HTS541060G9SA00 60GB 5400rpm 150MBps Serial ATA Serial ATA/150 I... (0A26923FT) Hard Drive
My daughter brought me her laptop computer (Dell Inspiron E1505) to fix. It had been acting strangely and she had a friend of hers reinstall Windows XP, which seemed to help for a while. Now it won't boot, the hard drive sounds like it has sand in it, and the setup indicates that there is no bootable drive installed. I told her we just need to get a new hard drive and reinstall all her software. Will any brand notebook harddrive fit this computer, or am I stuck with buying a Hitachi HDD?
I would appreciate any advice.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.
Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).
Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.
Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.
Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.
hope this helps
