External DVD player to Quasar W2009 (by 2 users)

posted by mbraverman on Mar 05, 2007

My 2009 has a built-in VCR, but no DVD. I bought a Sony DVD player. The hook up seems straightforward -- an audio out (actually 2 for stereo, I'm just using one channel since TV is mono) going to the audio in jack on front of the TV, and a video out going to the video in on the front of the tv. Colors match, jacks all fit, all seems good. But the signal doesn't seem to get through. No input controls on the TV, I figure it's through an onscreen menu controlled by the remote. But I can't figure out how to tell the TV to recognize the new input. Most confusing remote I've ever seen (I know, somebody somewhere has worked hard to make them all confusing). Can you take me through it step by step?

Thanks.

Similiar problem EXCEPT we are trying to record to a Quaser VV 2009 TV from a JVC Compact VHS Camcorder Model # GR-AX60C. The audio and video connections are correct, however we get no play through or record availability. Is there a way to direct the TV to a "line in" screen, which usually allows the transfer of video images?, or any help to transfer to the VHS "standard cassette"
