There is a large sand filled resistor on the main board close to where the power cord attaches that cracks. This will stop power until it cools enough to make the connection then heats up rapidly to open it again. This problem very common in sharp tv.The POWER,OPC flashes.First turn on have power LED indicator light stable at all? Tries the power again couple times will have backlight come back on,than it will work. Not at all more than 5-6 times than ur main turner signal board is the problem, must replaced.
Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.

Failing that it sounds like an internal short.
