Hey there, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. We have a few different codes for each of our different models of remotes. I will list here for you the best codes for our more popular models of remotes and the instructions for addressing the remote to your DVD player. I hope you find this information useful but if it does not work or you have any further questions please let me know I would be happy to help further.

3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4 IR remotes - codes 1594, 1605, 1607, 1675, 1554, 1592, 1677.
5.0, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 IR remotes - codes 1594, 1684, 1554, 1605, 1607, 1592, 1678.
4.0 and 4.4 IR/UHF remotes - codes 1684, 1554, 1594, 1605, 1607, 1592.
6.0, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 IR/UHF remotes - codes 1592, 1594, 1605, 1607, 1554, 1683, 1675.

Instructions for addressing the remote to the DVD player

1. Press and hold the AUX mode button until all mode button back lights come on, then release.
2. Use the number buttons to enter the device code corresponding to the equipment.
   Note: The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
3. Press the POUND (#) button.
   
   If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.

Disconnect the cmos battery (remove clock batery out) wait and insert back the batery... p.s. Bios setings setting becomes the default date and time so the same ... Then you come into the system bios and adjust its settings and the date and EnJoy

Usaly its "F10". Also, what for?

plz go to bios (press del key while your pc is booting) check for advance setting or boot order and select the first boot device as cd rom and press f 10 for saving and come out of the bios.

That's the limiting factor with laptops. You're bound to what the manufacturer provides or compatible 3rd party components. Different interface means not compatible (internally). You can try buying a Compaq DVD/RW for the Armanda, or buying an external DVD/RW that meets your needs.

Again, there's not too much freedom with parts when it comes to laptops.

What options are not available for you? Some examples will help me determine how to fix the problem. You can enter the BIOS on your laptop by hitting the 'F10' key at the right time when first pressing the power button. Sometimes you have to press F10 more then once so it catches at the right time.

You can get around this however it's not to easy. You would have to take the unit apart and locate the BIOS chip, this chip needs to pulled out, aswell as removing the the CR2032 battery which stores time and date on the computer. Leave both of these removed for a few minutes and re-install. This should wipe the password out. Like I said though it's not something that's easily done. Good Luck Hope this helps. L8R
