Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

The display lights are all solid and nothing happens when you press on the keys. I have a GE Sensor Microwave. I bought it in September of this year. Came home from work one day, went to heat something up in the microwave; bam! nothing works.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

You may have a failed keypad.

I have a GE sensor microwave oven. Tried to heat food and sensor eror came on. Everything is running even the timer but no sound but the timer is running. Cant this be reset pls help

HELLO.

This is the solution to reset your microwave.

1 Pressing the clock button will display the time. You can also use this to know what time it is while cooking.

1. Set the clock by pressing the "Clock" button.

2. Turning the dial on the GE sensor microwave oven will display the hour of the day. Once you have found the correct hour, press the dial in.

3. Again, turn the dial to set the minutes of the day. When this is completed, you will need to press the dial in again on the GE sensor microwave oven.

4. When the time and minutes are set, turn the dial again for a.m. or p.m. Then you will need to press the dial in to save the settings.

5. Press the "Start" button to allow the clock to begin on the GE sensor microwave oven.

Thanks.

I have a GE microwave, sensor type...it runs but does not heat and does not allow us to change the power level. Any ideas? It is barely over a year old. Bought at LOWES.

This sounds like the magnetron has gone, also there is a solid state device called the triac which controls the power level settings. The other two parts that can be a factor is the high voltage capacitor and diode. The repairs with parts and labor can amount to the price of a new microwave oven.

I have a 2 year old ge micrwave. I shut the breaker off to change a furnace filter and now the microwave is not working and just says to "press clock". When I press the clock button, nothing...

If you press clock and nothing happens your keypad has shorted out and needs to be replaced. Try to unplug the unit one more time and try to turn the unit on again. If you have the same problem replace the control panel.

Microwave stopped working

Sounds like it blew the fuse, and when the fuse blows immediately upon hitting the START button, I'd say you have a shorted high voltage capacitor. But it may also be an open thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or just a fuse. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your actual model number (like JVM1860B01, not XL1800 or Spacemaker) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
