Most likely you have a virus and it has corrupted the boot files of the OS. Most likely you'll have to reformat the computer with your original OS disk and lose everything. Your only option for saving information would be to perhaps run a check disk and fix the errors or use a Linux Live CD and manually mount the hard drive to recover any data.

Computer wont boot all the way up

There are several reason why a computer won't boot up. First you need to figure out if your Power Supply is working, if your not a computer expert, you can try another PSU to test. Or you can use a PSU tester to test if your PSU is still working. If not, clean and reseat your RAM, if you have 2 RAMs, remove each RAM then try 1 RAM at a time, and try to seat the RAM to different slot. If not luck, clean and reseat your graphics card. If you have a built-in video port, remove your graphics card. Still won't boot? try resetting the CMOS. This might fix the problem.

Need to reset acer aspire 1200 desktop

The Aspire One is a netbook produced by Acer; it does not come equipped with a CD ROM drive, so a traditional hard drive reformat and Windows reinstallation is not possible without a peripheral storage device. An external USB CD or flash drive will suffice, however.Difficulty:Moderate

Instructions

    • 1 Plug in the external CD drive, then turn on your netbook and let it boot to your operating system.
    • 2 Open your web browser and go to the BootDisk website (see link in Resources). Download the Windows XP Fresh Install Bootable CD, then burn these files to a blank CD via your external CD drive.
    • 3 Ensure the files have burned to your bootable CD, then restart the netbook with the CD still in the drive.
    • 4 The netbook should boot to the CD upon the restart. Follow the instructions prompted for installation. Upon completion you will have a clean installation of Windows XP on your Acer Aspire One.

Just yesterday my desktop pc worked fine but, today when I turned it on, it would not boot up as usual. I cant even boot up in safe mode or choose a restore point, nor can I install a new OS or repair...

It sounds like you have a bad hard drive. Your best bet is to install a new hard drive and install the OS onto it, then attempt to recover any data from the old hard drive externally using an external enclosure. Note any noises from the old hard drive like clicking (it's usually very loud and consistently timed), if you do notice anything then you won't be able to recover any data without spending a lot ($600 + ) of money.

Yes there is, it depends on the brand. Lots of brands have what they call a restore partition that will restore the pc to its factory condition. Look for a message stating Press F11 or F12 for recover partition during the computers boot up. It will be during the blank and white part of the boot process (usually)

Laptop can acess harddrive

Sounds like a BIOS password to me...

No hacks, or tricks will work with software, as the BIOS is specifically preventing you from booting ANYTHING.

Some laptops feature RESET buttons on the underside, or hidden under the battery to resolve this issue, but more than likely, the laptop must be opened up and have the CMOS battery removed temporarily to wipe the password.

Acer laptop. it won't start up, when i press the start button, it shows nothing but black screen, and i dont know what to do ....

First thing to try is to reseat the RAM on the laptop, as it could have came lose a little causing this non boot problem.

I might even be something wrong with the BIOS. You can try resetting the BIOS

Check if the laptop fans are working. As a overheating CPU or GPU can cause this problem as well.
