It may be a content disc. One probably holds your operating system, the other holds your preinstall programs.

SOURCE: pc keeps trying to start up but states it needs to reboot and won't. I have tried to insert the operation disc and it does not work either

it probably says insert suitable boot device. If you are trying to boot from a cd go into the bios and set the boot device priority to CD as priority. If hard drive then set hard disk to the top.

I want to reboot my entire system so it starts from scratch, how do I do this?

If your system does have a recovery partition (typically says press f11 for recovery during boot if you have one) Reboot the pc, press f11 during the asus screen. The system restore utility will guide you through the rest.

If your system does not have a recovery partition
Take your system restore or operating system disc, Put it in the cdrom, reboot the computer.

When your pc starts back up (during the asus logo screen) During this screen there is usually a key sequence you can press to pop up the alternate boot menu. Typically the key is esc, f8 or f10. If one of those is right it will bring up a second menu asking what to boot from, select your cdrom. The cd will boot and your system restore disc will guide you through the rest..

Windows does not boot up unless i have system disc i have reinstalled xp but it stops and says boot from cd put in system disc xp everytime i try to start it up then it will start i take out the disc and...

Have you let the machine complete the install? There are a couple of reboots with the disk installed. Don't press any buttons during the reboot the disk will transfer to the harddrive when appropriate.

You also may have a corrupt boot record. Next time try booting from the CD. When the system comes up, select recovery console (R). When you are asked for a system to login, press enter. Enter the administrator's password if asked. At the prompt, "c:\windows>", type fixmbr.

A blue screen just comes and stays on, what can I do? Darryl. I have a 12 inch ibook g4

Hi,
Bsod, 2 possibilities, hardware defect, and software problem,So check software.

Re-boot, keep tapping F8 while booting, enter black screen area, choose last known good, top 1

or, reboot again, F8 again, black screen, choose safe mode this time,

if/when booted, system restore, go back in time, re-boot.

or, Operating system disc in drive, reboot, when it says boot from disc, hit return, repair the o/s with the disc, (( care needed not to re-install ))

let it finish
reboot
test

I hope this helps
