You compressor has a pilot valve that controls the tank pressure and the speed of the engine. Locate the brass pilot valve, (It has a flip lever that unloads the compressor) you will notice that it has two locking nuts that allow for adjustment when loosened. Loosen the small lock nut and turn the upper-most part of the pilot valve out to reduce pressure, in to increase pressure. Hope this helps, enjoy.

Have a old (1950's guessing) westinghouse air compressor. Pumped it to 150 psi, I shut off, air was coming out of air intake and had pressure in the crank case.

replace the non-return valve in the pipe at the tank connection
air out of intake is poor poppet/read valve seating and pressure in the sump is the tank air leaking back and down past the rings
150 psi is excessive and not good for the compressor so adjust it back to 100 -110 psi

Compressor has air coming out the air in take, and has air pressure in the crankcase. When shut off. I shut it off at 150psi.

home compressors should cut out at 100- 110 psi so check / replace the controller
air out of the inlet is air under pressure holding the valves open
pressure in the sump is a blocked breather for the sump possibly from excessive air pressure
remember it is not pressure that drives tools but volume flow so if you have a 10 cubic ft /min compressor but are running a tool that requires 12 cubic ft /min air then 150 psi is not the answer
a bigger capacity compressor is

Can I get 80 psi with dials set at 40 psi

this compressor should be able to fill your tires to 80 psi. Look for a pressure switch and adjust it so the motor shuts off at a higher pressure. Do not exceed 100 psi.

I have a 6hp 33 gal aircomp i builds up to 100 should go to 250 wont shut off because not up to press can you help

Sounds to me likt you have a bad motor, or compressor. The compressor rings might be leaking by only holding 100 psi.

Switch will not shut off

Make sure you don't contact the electrical power inside the switch cover.
Make sure that you have an accurate gauge to test the compressor.
Adjust the switch to the original factory setting.
If the original setting was 100 psi, for example, make sure the gauge is reading at least 100 psi while the compressor is running. If the pressure is over 100, turn the nut that is over the larger spring counter clockwise until the compressor stops. This will lower both turn on and turn off pressures. The nut over the smaller diameter spring should probably not be adjusted.

Model number b600bpl60v, pressure doesn't get above 125 psi. what might be the problem and is there some type of manual available on line?

125 psi is a industry standard for air compressors. WE are not susposted to need more than that. It is going to shut off at that, 125 and not cut back on until about 100 psi.
