Question about Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone Expansion Handset

1 Answer

Hi! When I go to use my phone it either has no signal, out of range comes on or I pick up the phone and answer it and start conversation and the call drops with out of range. This has been a problem for some time now and these phones are not 6mos. old. They are NOT DROPPED or THROWN etc. I have DECT 2080-3 set. I live in apt. building, this is why I bought this phone to NOT have these issues. Can you help? Thank You Dawn

Hi!

I called UNIDEN to fix the problem, though I am not sure it is resolved I will wait n see.
As the problem happens intermittently, there is no real way to know at this point. I know the phones are only about 6-7mos old to my home.

The offer to replace/refund the money spent is on the table if the problem continues.

So I thank you for your response!

How do i answer the phone when it rings ?

Pick it up and say "Hello, this is Thomas".

On mobile handsets there is usually a Green and Red button, Green for Talk and Red to end conversation. There is some times a setting to answer as soon as you pick up.

I purchased a panasonic digital cordless answering system. When I am talking on the phone and a call is coming in it does not go into my message box. the incoming call just continues to ring. I can hear...

You don't mean the "message box" on your answering system do you? You only get one conversation at a time. If you're talking to someone, how can the other conversation get to the mailbox?

Most people get central office based voice mail. Now they get a call waiting signal with caller id and if they ignore it, it's answered by the CO voice mail system.

My phone is fairly new and almost immediately after I pick up the phone it starts beeping for low battery. Also it searches for a signal all of the time and cuts off conversations because it's searching...

It is searching for a signal because its signal is so weak it cannot find the base. If it cannot communicate with the base, there is no conversation.

New or not ... your battery is either faulty, prematurely dead or not charging. I am leaning toward not charging ... do you have it plugged into a hot outlet (not switch controlled)? Can you measure the power coming OUT of the transformer? Is there a charging light on the base unit that would indicate a charging condition?

Clicking noise and out of range

digital is supposed to stop your calls from been listened into, if it is analogue it is very easy.
are there a choise of different channels? can you haer her conversations?
turn off the base and try turning on the handset and see if you can listen in?
if the phone battery is getting old it won't transmit as far.
the signals move in line of sight so if you move the base it might work better for you and maybe make it difficult to listen in?9They might get your signal stronger than there own?

My answering system and my instructions are all in won't pick up

is the incoming phone line plugged into the answering machine directly? the answering machine should then be plugged into the phone. the signal comes through the answering machine then to the phone. you may have the connections reversed on the answering machine. check those connections.

HEADSET

A button must be programmed as a "headset" key. When activated, it will lamp red, and put the conversation on the headset jack under the phone (next to the handset jack).

Or you can purchase a headset with an auto lifter for the handset. It picks up the handset enough to answer the call, but transfers the conversation to your headset.

Strange telephone happenings

My guess, assuming nobody recorded the conversation, is that the answering machine picked up before the call could be answered. Check your answering machine for the number of rings before it turns on.

Or maybe your answering machine has a memo record on it that is malfunctioning that recorded a memo

wow, no one has posted a response for this poor sap. I don't know what to do, but someone should at least post some insight!
Personally, I think it may be a power issue, as possibly the current going to the phone is not stable, so it is interfering with the machine's abilities to listen for someone else picking up on the other end.
