Yes you can replace it or clean it, the only problem is you have to see or look for the fan that is not working... There are more then one. The Only one that is hard to get to is the transport suction fan.... I have had to replace a few of them. I really never replaced any other ones, I just cleaned them. Also, listen for a fan that is making a funny noise when it starts moving.......Good Luck

The fan is not easy to replace...... The fan is located under the black transport belts. The fan is part
of the unit that brings the paper from the transfer & drum to the fuser unit. The unit is black and it looks like tank tracks. From what I remember the fan is acturely in the transport unit ... Good Luck

C0040

The C0040 is a cooling fan failure code. Opening and closing the front door wil reset the code. Doing this while "bumping" the machine will restore the machine to operational MOST of the time. Cooling fan replacement will eventually be required. Resetting though can be accomplished in most cases.
The part number for the fan is 9313-1310-61 and here is a picture of the fan which is located behind the rear cover. Thanks

I received an error message for lmy HPlasejet Printer 58.3

Fan Motor Error. Fan Motor 3 (FM3) is defective.

Switch the printer off and then back on. If the error continues:
  1. Check cabling between fan motor(s) and DC Controller PCA.
  2. Replace the faulty fan motor.
  3. Replace the DC Controller.

EP3050 error code C0040

A C0040 error code indicates a problem with the suction deck fan. It has nothing to do with the paper lift motors.

The fan is accessed by removing the rear cover of the copier. It is right in the center. These are readily available (p/n 9313-1310-61) although they are not cheap (around $200 retail).
