The accompanying disc doesn't include drivers for Vista, but the box says it does. Where can I download them ?

Thanks for the link. I'll try it tomorrow. I did my own "fix" in the meantime. For some unknown reason one of the 20 laptops I had to install on actually worked with the Nikkai RS232 adaptor, none of the others did. I found the installer puts two .sys files in the C:\Windows|?System32\drivers folder. I tried copying these from the one working laptop onto the other 19 laptops also using the blue CD, replacing the two .sys files, and if by magic, they all now work !

    Cheers, Tony

No problem, you are probably better using this driver as it was written for Vista.

I found it by searching for the prolific driver for serial adapters instead of Nikkai, as they are the supplier not the manufacturer.

It definitely works for me, I didn't want to mess around with manual install/copy of files, Not that I wouldn't be adverse to doing that either....

Anyways thanks for the update and hope all works out for you.

There are three options you can do,
(1) run your disc that came with your computer,it should be your windows xp disc or your vista disc also try using the system recovery disk, this should work,if not you can go to HP Compaq presario website and type in the product number which is SR5410F, in the search box type foxconn CO2 lan1_usb12, follow the directions as you can download it from their website.

I have an rs232 cable attached to kyrptview cable box via a usb adaptor.. Cant get my pc to see the box.. its a dell pentium 4 on windows xp.. any help pls

I assume the RS232 cable is going to a serial port? I think you should add a USB card to your system. The old async chips used to support RS232 ports are not fast enough to take USB info.

Hooking up USB adaptor to internal hard drive on desktop

clsoe the cover.
look outside of the box. look at the rear of the machine. there should be 2 USB slots. there is none in the front of the machine.
The USB driver may not be correct, since it is PIII machine. go to HP.com and download the USB driver for the machine.

Need drivers for nikkai usb to serial converter rs232

I purchased the Nikkai USB to RS232 adapter from Maplin and could not get the device working. (Maplin staff not much help!) The lead uses the Prolific PL-2303 device but Prolific do not supply the drivers to end users.
However I found the drivers that appear to work at:

http://www.cooldrives.com/wividrforprc.html

This then recognises the lead as a COM port. So far everything seems to work OK.
(Null modem check and basic 9600 data transfer.)

I hope that helps everybody.

My samsung till won't talk to my lap top

Windows Vista is the last operating system that you would want to use for legacy hardware -legacy being anything that requires a usb to rs 232c adaptor. Scripts required to make this work would drive you to an abacus. If you need to have a cash register input on a permanent basis I would recommend another operating system, even a real old computer would be easier to interface or you could use the modem output of the Samsung to connect to your laptop in a LAN configuration maybe even with a null modem connection. Vista will drive you crazy with permission denials with cries of cyber-sodomy with an analog interface directly connected. The Samsung 755 has a USB interface but since you don't have the correct input for your laptop it will be far easier to use the cash register an an old (cheap) computer with an RS 232 interface and connect it to your laptop with a wired or wireless LAN configuration. Those USB to DB9 0r DB25 or PS2 adaptors still cannot match the speed parameters that the laptop US Host controller would ever find acceptable. Windows XP or 2000 might be a consideration but Vista is already neurotic enough without interfaces it was not designed to accomodate. I hope this will save you from alot of frustration. respectfully, Steve Medley

It is possible that the adaptor is not compatible with your version of windows vista, despite what the system requirements for the device say.

Below is a link where you can download the latest driver for your bluetooth adaptor. Support XP sp1, sp2, and vista. Try this driver
