Re: Lifecam not working when i remote to my computer
I have had very good success using the "TEAM VIEWER" program which is FREE to use as a "Non-Commercial user and assigning a password when it asks you to do so. Only place a password on the remote computer not on the one you are using. After you get it installed on the remote and your computer you will be able to access it and control it remotely. If you have any problems I will try assisting you further. Hope this helps. Bud

Welcome to Fixya. With you issue the work around is to reinstall the latest driver of the webcam to see if it will works. We can isolate the issue to know if the product is defective. If it is possible to connect the Lifecam or try it to a different computer so that we can check if it has the same result. If the colors will still continue to flicker the most likely this is a problem with a hardware and it only means that you need to replace the lifecam.
I have the exact same Camera....... and I have gotten it to work on Windows XP just fine.....
here are a few troubleshooting tips to help you figure out if its just settings
1: go to another application that can use a webcam (ie: MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook) and see if the Cam will work.
2: try downloading alternate software to manage your webcam ( http://www.manycam.com/)
if the above two options dont work with the webcam.. it may be the cam itself.
In my case the LifeCam 2.07 installation problems on Win XP SP3 were related to Microsoft .NET Framework. Figured this out by looking into the temporary directories LifeCam installation creates - it seemed like it was repeatedly extracting and trying to install .NET 3.0 without success. Fixed this by installing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and all following updates from Windows Update first. Then the LifeCam installation worked fine.
If you haven't done the Audio setup in what ever program you are using, you need to do so . On YAHOO go to MESSENGER, then click on Messenger Preferences. Next In Cat ***** click on CALLING & DEVICES. Then when that comes up check to insure your microphone is selected to your installed audio card. Next check to see if your SPEAKERS are also set to your audio card.
Nest below that is "TEST AUDIO", and in blue under that is "open"CALL SETUP ASSISTANCE".
Then just follow the instructions. When finished it should work properly. Hope this helps. Bud
