Can you charge it? If so fully charge it and then connect it to the computer and reset/rebot the ipod and see if that helps, if you can't charge it just do the same thing.

The power supply is showing on my screen

The battery icon displays when you have no battery power left. Connect your iPod to a charger. If the iPod will not charge you'll need to buy a new battery.

A folder shows up on startup and notice to contact apple support. 20gb 4th gen

Ipod is not ABLE TO FIND THE OS ON YOUR HDD.
try to bring it close to your ear an try to hear. See if you can listen to clicking sound. if it does click, your in trouble as your hdd is messed up..
nothing much you can do about it, just when its trying to start and it starts clicking bang your ipod ( on ur palm ) as this would help the hdd needle to skip and bad sectors and might work again !
good luck.

MY IPOD IS SAYING GO TO WWW.APPLE.COM/SUPPORT/IPOD

If the iPod is showing the "Sad iPod face" icon, this means that the hard drive inside the iPod is dead and needs to be replaced.

If the iPod is showing the "Folder/Exclamation Point" icon, this means that the logic board (the circuit board) inside the iPod is no longer working properly and needs to be replaced in order for the iPod to work.

I have the generation one which was developed in 2005 and mine does the same thing. What i do is hold the menu button and center button down at the same time until it resets itself, this should only take nomore than 30 sec. of holding them down at the same time. That should help.
