Router: open an internet browser and type in 192.168.0.1 that should be the routers ip address. it will ask for a username and a password. if you dont know, type in admin for username and password for password. you should be able to view lots of settings on the router now. don't mess about here too much, there be dragons! but you can change the username and password to whatever you like and write it down somewhere safe.
then unplug the cable and wait for the wireless connection to detect. then click on your internet connection icon in the bottom right hand corner (i presume) and find the list of connections. right click on the one you are using and click properties (at least that's how i did it in vista). there should be a tab that says security or something. in there somewhere is a list of encryption protocol such as wep, wpa etc. choose one, set your username and password for the wireless encryption and apply.
remember them!
done.
good luck

oh i meant 'unplug the cable' in the sense that you should do the router thing directly to the router by cable. then, unplug the cable and do the wifi thing. woops.

How do I connect my Macbook to my Kodak wireless printer with my Belkin G+MIMO router?

When you added the WPS encryption ket to your wireless router, this secures your wireless network from unauthorized access to you wireless network.
To allow your wireless computers and wireless printer to communicate with your wireless network the wireless cards in the computers and printer needs to be configured with the WPA encryption settings that you configured in the wireless router.

Your other computers must be connecting to the Belkin using WEP encryption if the Belkin does not support WPA encryption.
Therefore you need to configure the wireless card in the HP with the Belkin's WEP encryption key.

Whats my routers hex key

The encryption (hex) key is in the router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Belkin to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Belkin configuration URL
http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press enter)
You can protect your router by changing the default PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
Connect your DSL or cable modem to the D-Link router.

I set the router from wap security to wep and i cant connect to it now.

The WEP encryption key is in the router's wireless settings and changing this encryption will affect your wireless connection.
You must also configure the computer's wireless card settings with this WEP encryption otherwise the wireless router will not allow the computer to connect to the wireless router.
I suggest you use WPA or WPA2 encryption, this is a later and stronger encryption method than WEP encryption.

Once you change the encryption setting in the router you also need to change the wireless encryption settings in the wireless card on your laptop with the same router encryption setting so the laptop can communicate with the router wirelessly.

Problem with downloading router driver/firmware

You don't need software for the router. Is your wireless encrypted or open? Just view avaiable networks with your xp machine and choose your network to connect to. If you do have an encrypted signal use the vista machine and type in the ip address to the router in your browser window. I think belkins router ip is 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 Hope this helps, let me know

Belkin Wireless Router/HP Laptop - wireless security problem

This is an unusual problem. It's interesting that you can connect without encryption. A few thoughts, which you may well have considered already:

1) Does this happen even when you deliberately disconnect from the network, and reconnect?

2) The network key/passphrase is case sensitive; it is very easy to make a small slip with this, or some other tiny detail, when entering the key;

3) Is there the slightest chance your router has the same SSID (name) as a neighbour's? ....Sorry if this seems a daft question, but it is something to consider...
