BA735 for Mac?

I have a Mac laptop, and want to plug my BA735 speakers into it from my Dell computer. Is this possible? There aren't many places to plug it in the laptop, so I wanted to see before I unplugged everything from the Dell.

If your speekers have a analog input. Next to digital. Like a standard stereo phone plug. BA735 for Mac? - 6b71de2.jpgYou can buy a cable from a generals electronic store. But if not. You will need to do some very careful soldering to re-instate the missing analog component. See http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/153/t846623-modify-ba735-for-analog-input/ I did this and it works well. You need a soldering iron and some solder and a magnifiying glass because the components are very small.

I have a set of boston ba735 speakers that i got with my gateway computer and i tried hooking them up to my mac computer and i'm not getting any sound

Correct me if I am wrong but these are USB speakers and as such need the correct drivers / software to run them.

USB speakers can be very finicky to set up and use but once working are usually quite good.

They are not my preference. Real speakers are so much better and can be placed to take best advantage of the sound they produce whereas USB ones cannot.

Boston BA735 Digital Speakers Dont Work on new Dell computer

You can try to install the sound card--Vista should pick it up, but you'll still probably have to have a driver disk for it.

Make sure that you not only power it down, but you unplug the power cord and press the on button to discharge any stored charge.

When you insert the card, be sure that you'v touched off on either the powersupply or the frame to the hand that has the card in it. Then insert the card. (A static electricity spark can be 20k volts, low amps, but it can destroy both the card and the motherboard if you aren't careful.)

The XP driver might be a problem, but check for the numbers on the card before putting it in and do a search. You may find some additional Vista drivers.

There are a couple of after-market cards that use a digital out, you just have to look for the right connector.

Connecting BA735 digital 3.5mm plug with S/PDIF coax jack

The male mono plug (from the left small speaker) should be connected into the right speaker (small speaker with controls) . After plugging the multi pin cable from the control speaker to the sub-woofer you need to plug in a signal source from your computer (or any other digital signal) into the sub-woofer. This digital input looks like an ordinary RCA plug but carries many channels of audio. That connects to the enabled digital output of your computer. Some computers output digital through a 3.5mm jack others look just like an RCA phono jack. If you are lucky some BA735 sub-woofers have a second input that is a standard 3.5mm stereo jack and it will take analog audio from computer, DVD, MP3 player or the like. I have three sets of these speakers that I love because of their big volume considering such a small size.

Will my boston accoustics ba735 speakers work with a dell laptop?

We also have a Gateway Computer purchased in 2001 with the Boston Digitanl BA735 speakers. We ran into a similar problem when we upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP, with no sound after the upgrade. After consulting with computer stores and "Geek Squad", it was finally determined that Windows XP set the speakers for analog not digital. Once that was reset, our sound returned. Hope this works for you.

Boston Acoustic BA735 digital CD quality 16 bit/44.1khz speakers

Assuming you are using digital BA735.

Dell laptops come with a proprietery s-video dongle. It gives you a digital output which can go into the BA735 speakers.

I use one set of BA735 with two computers. Computer A sends digital out and Computer B sends analog. BA735 plays both. I listen to music using digital while the analog from the other computer alerts me to the incoming messages in Pidgin.

I did have to change bios settings on one computer to use the on-board audio.

To enable digital output in XP, click on the speaker icon > Advanced > Select Enable SPDIF. You can leave the PC Spk Mute unchecked if you want the analog output as well. That's all.

I hope you are able to enjoy the rich sound of BA735. It's beautiful. My ears thank a lot for replacing those desktop speakers. BA735 hardly takes up any space . Two small speakers are perched on the hutch and the bass module is somewhere behind the desk, completely invisible.

Some Dell computers come with a proprietary s-video dongle. It gives you a digital output which can go into the BA735 speakers. If not then you can buy a cheap device that can give you digital out unless you want to mess with third party drivers and enable digital out over SPDIF on your computer.

BA735 no sound but sound card works in analog mode.

this should be pretty easy to diagnose. both speakers have mini jacks right? if so, and you plug one pair of speakers in on say, port "A" and you get sound then if you plug your other speakers in on port "A" and you don't get any sound, the problem is with your speakers.
