Ford Ranger XLT reverse lights on when motor off

Hello,

we have a slow battery drain on our Ford Ranger XLT. The battery will be charged overnight and run for a week and then again nada.

Now we noticed that the reverse lights are on, even if the pickup is parked (and not in reverse) and motor is off. This is the first day we noticed it.

Any ideas what could cause this? And how to fix it?

Note: I'm new here. I checked online and couldn't find anything in that direction. Please, anything you can help me with?

it's manual. That switch is underneath, right? Great place for electrics (and martens)... Will look into that this afternoon
    Thanks!

    Found the source!
It was a faulty electrical connector (towbar outlet). Loads of corrosion inside the outlet. Needed replacing. It seems to work now.
    Thanks for the suggestions! :o)

I have a 2000 ford ranger xlt 3.0L. Alternator, spark plugs, battery, battery ports, and fuses have all been replaced. The alternator isn't charging the battery. What could possibly be causing this?

Do you battery voltage at the wire on the back of alternator ? How about the connector with four wires , should have voltage at a couple of those wires too . When you turn the key on does charge indicator light ?

I have a 2008 ford ranger xlt 4x4 4.0 . changed the motor and the battery was disconnected . now the truck will not start cause the anti theft is locked what do i do ???

Ensure you have "ALL" the wires connected and a fully charged battery. Then use your remote to turn off the anti theft devises and your truck should start with no problems. You may have to switch the anti theft device from your old engine to your new one or take the vin of the new engine to the dealer and get the code for that engine.

Sounds like something is shorting out but first I would not trust that the battery is good . So try unhooking the battery after its been charged and then hooking it up the next morning to see if it will start your truck and if it works the battery is good and need to find the short but if it is drained and dont start truck its a bad battery.

2000 Ford Ranger XLT electrical problem

Check your rear end to see if you have a sensor like in this video, if so it could solve some issues. The video describes items all going out around the same time. Its based on a 2 wheel drive but who knows you might have the same sensor in the same location. This is a shot in the dark, but who knows it might help or point you in the right direction.

Check your operator's manual. Make sure any and all fuses that have anything to do with the affected items are not blown and are working properly. If you can; check for loose fuse connections or wires. Hope this helps. God bless!

My 2004 ford ranger xlt 4x4 won't go into any forward gears, only reverse. When it does go in reverse the engagement is hard?

Sounds like the forward clutches and/or low-reverse one-way clutch. Either way it sounds like it's time for an overhaul
