If you are connected and up and running, just login to your router from a browser go to http://192.168.2.1 and you will be asked for password (default has no password set). If there is a password set then use it if you know it, if you dont then reset the modem by pressing in the reset button at the back of the modem (a hair/paper clip is good for this) keep it held for 10secs and then release, modem should be reset to factory defaults. Once browsing the settings you will be able to secure it with a password.

Dear technical assistance: I need your advice concerning with "BELKIN F5D8231-4 V1000 ROUTER" which I use. I wanted update the program (Firmware Update) with V5000 but it automatically...

Greetings,

You have a Version 1 (V1000) router, and you cannot use Version 5 hardware firmware on it. That's why you received this error. You always have to use the latest version of the V1000 firmware if it has something you need.

Now, after factory reset, settings go back to defaults. If you were connecting wirelessly, you just changed your security key and maybe your encryption method as well. Try plugging directly into the switch on the router and access the web gui at 192.168.2.1 again and reconfigure your settings.

Where is the network security key located

Unfortunatly there is no way of recovering your password however you can always reset your router.
Keep in mind this will reset the router to factory default and make your router unsecure here is a link to show you how to reset the bottom link is to secure:

I have a Belkin wireless router but no one can see it

The settings for different wireless routers differ based on the manufacturer. If I could log into your router, I'm sure it would take seconds to diagnose the issue. Since that is not possible, you should know that Belkin will provide support for you. If you will simply call them and they can walk you through the issue.

Belkin router frequent internet connection loss

hello,

...first of all :
latest firmware version is -all i know- version 3.01.29 so my question is : where did you get / found firmware version 3.01.30 ? can you give me a link ?
...then :
after installing the new firmware causing this problem after installation you should save your settings to take care. then you should first use internal 'new start / restart-funktion' of your router.
try this, if it helps.
when it should not help, then save settings as well and make hard-reset on your router. for this you press the reset-button at the back of your router - long enough, watch the blinking symbols on front.

after them you should ONLY MANUALLY configure the router for internet access, DO NOT USE the installation disc ! for manual configuration you should connect the router and your computer by cable, using ethernet-port #1 at the router.
then open your browser, enter 192.168.2.1 at address bar, no http or anything before or after, only this number... then the web-interface will be opened and on the left you find the navigation-menu.
enter menu 'internet wan' -> for usual highspeed / broadband- access you will get access-codes from your isp (internet service provider), then the connection type is pppoe...

this is most usual procedure...

try this and give feedback... :)

sincerely nayss

Belkin N1 wireless router drops offline

The connectivity issue with your Belkin router could be due to a couple of different items. Your ISP might even be able to shed a little light on the subject.

I would also go to Belkin's website, and go to the support area by clicking on Support Center in the left pane of the sight. You can then search for your product number. With the results that you receive, you will be able to see what version of firmware they have, which is like doing a software upgrade on your computer. There should also be a step by step process on the website for you to install the firmware. I would do it from a desktop that is connected physically to the router.

Please let me know if you would like further assistance with this matter. Thank you.

How to secure my belkin router version 1100uk version

type 192.168.0.1 into the internet browser url box.this is the router's ip address.
it should ask for a username and password. try admin for username and password for password. then check the page it is displaying. this is the settings page for the router. you can change the username and password in there. write it down!
then you could go to your wireless connection list, right click on the connection and press properties. hit the security tab and there should be a line saying security options or something like that (that's what it is in vista) and enable encryption, like WEP, or preferably WPA. there will be a list of available protection methods. i'm not sure but wpa2 might be a good way to go.
hope this helps, good luck.
