Question about Panasonic TH-42PWD5UY 42 in. Television

TH-42pw5 Monitor with 5th of screen missing

I aquired this monitor with no history of the thing. Switches on ok but has a fith of the screen missing and this then causes interference to spread out at least half way across the screen. The black part also has coloured bars running vertically, which change depending on the picture viewed. It just flickers by it self sometimes which makes me think it is a connection problem. The right side of the screen is fine with a clear picture. One forum i have read states it might be the screen that needs replacing but I think (hope) it is one of the boards. If any more info on this is required, I will give as much as i can. I have opened the back and found that a ribbon cable has been removed and not been replaced on the lower right C1 board, second from right. I plugged it in with no change to the problem. Please help.

OK, when you boot up next time press F8, and choose BOOT IN VGA MODE, this will then allow you to ar view the monitor, now, go into settings and make sure your video card resolution settings are set to say, 1280x1280, or maybe even less to start, say 1024x768, all 32bit. Now, when you restart next, the monitor should be OK. But, if it doesn't you will have to do it again, set lower, and then get a new Video Driver, and install, and try again, at the higher settings. If you cannot even boot up in VGA Mode, then i suspect the Monitor is faulty.

My moniter is not working at all, is it posibel that the power suply is the problem?

Yes that is the first thing to check. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a good outlet and plugged into the monitor. If it still does nothing use a volt meter and check to make sure th power cable is good. If the cable is good you may have a bad switch. If that is the case unless you are familar for electronics take the monitor to a repair shop and don't try to take the monitor apart to start checking switches.

tricky!! oh hi im Dyanne.. a totally unresponsive black screen can be th result of failure of th LCD or LCD inverter.( a specialized piece of electronics that energize th screen) to rule out th failure of th video display adapter or circuitry, try plugging in an external monitor..a standard pc monitor.. attached direct to th lappy. if it works, (as i susopect) th motherboard and video display are both working ok and its th LCD which is at fault. this can sometimes be repaired by a competent specialist. good luck xx

Brightness and contrast screen in center of monitor and can't remove it

the micro switches on the monitor are getting short which is triggering the menu, try to clean it with a switch cleaner or check if the switches can be replaced, do this only if u r an expert in handling things like this or take some proffessional assistance.
