How to find a IP address for my emachines laptop

go to start -- run and type in CMD
hit enter to open a black command prompt window

type in "ipconfig" without the quotes and hit enter. This will give you your IP address.

If you need the IP address from your provider that you are using out on the public internet, just go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and it will tell you what your external public IP address is.

If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wireless connection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptop probably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and then click Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless card on the laptop.

What is ip mapping? and how i can use two or more internet connection at a same time?

IP mapping is the practice of recording multiple devices within a network by their IP address to assist in troubleshooting.

You can connect multiple devices to one modem using a router. The router splits and directs the signal from the modem. If you are using auto-detection for internet connection, they should pick up their addresses automatically, however you will need to have someone set up the router to path properly.

It needs an IP address. A router hands out IP addresses using DHCP in most default settings. Your computer has to be set to "Obtain an IP address automatically: and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" in (TCP/IP) Properties of LAN Properties for your Device name. You can also use hardcoded IP addresses. It's pretty complicated.

Need to renew ip address for my emachine T3516

just right click on your local connection on the desktop by the clock and click on "repair". this should clear the cache and renew the IP addy and DNS for yur connection. OR

Follow these steps to quickly release and/or renew the Internet Protocol (IP) address of a computer running Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT. Here's How:
  1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar.
  2. Click Run... on this menu.
  3. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'cmd' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears. A command prompt window appears on the screen.
  4. Type 'ipconfig' (without the quotes) to view the status of the computer's IP address(es).
  5. If the computer is holding a current IP address, type 'ipconfig /release' to let go of the address.
  6. Type 'ipconfig /renew' to obtain a new IP address (whether or not the computer is holding a current address).
Tips:
  1. If it is not necessary to view the current IP addresses on a computer, simply type 'ipconfig /release' or 'ipconfig /renew' (without the quotes) in the text box that appears in Step 3.

  2. To bring a computer back onto the network after moving it to a different location, or experiencing an unexpected outage, first release, then renew the IP address. Computers on DHCP networks often (but not always) re-establish network connectivity automatically

Cant connect to the internet it says that theres limited or no connection for my dwl-g520

if you have security enabled then the passkey you typed is wrong, or you have told windows to repair the connection, this is the wrong thing to do as it changes the ip address, go to your network connections in control panel of whichever connection you are using go to the properties>TCP/IP laine>properties, then click the obtain an ip address automatically button and ok.

Close window, restart pc if necassary and try again.

First take off WEP.
Next, ensure DHCP is enabled on router.
Don't set a manual IP address in computer, it should auto detect.
You probably have the WEP key wrong

Use the HEX WEP key in windows, do not use a pass phrase.

Cant log onto ineternet with my pc. It has a Airnet Wireless adapter c

It is possible that the encryption the router is using is not one supported by your wireless card or OS. Older 802.11 cards do not support WPA and Vista Systems will not connect to WEP.

See if you can get the owner to disable wireless security for troubleshooting, and see if you connect UNsecure. If you can connect with security disabled, then it is time to look at what security your wireless supports and ensure that other wireless restrictions on the router are not blocking the connection (Limits on IP addresses, MAC address filtering etc)
